Publishers can't afford to abandon the PS3.

QFT. There is no PS2 this time around and development costs are up. They need to make games for both systems to prosper.

You do realize that the Wii is selling at a faster rate than the PS2 did, Wii development costs are not dramatically higher than PS2 games, and the Wii has sold a ton of software?

Wii does not exist.

Pretty much, in this context at least.

Here is a theory just as relevant as any other:
Post news articles like this, because it will cause videogame forums like this to go nuts and post the article OVER AND OVER, drawing attention to the site.

Wow, I was originally going to go for bad humor, but found as I was writing it, it is probably more true than bad humor.

 Say what???

You do realize, that if the Wii didn't exist in this generation, and it was only the PS3 and Xbox360, the PS3 would have sold at least like 5 milion units more by now?
Especially during the PS3's launch period, since the Wii stole a lot of the PS3's launch thunder, due to the masive hype the Wii gained at the same time..

If this wasn't the case, and the PS3 was solely comepeting with the 360, I'm quite sure that you wouldn't see publishers abondoning the PS3 in the same way they are now..

I just meant that the Wii is irrelevant in this discussion.

@ssj12

You do understand your proving my point exquisitely. Your entire perspective is Binary. Black or White, Good or Evil, Left or Right, One or Zero. I might concede you are actually that stupid, but I could also conceive that you are blinded by faith, or are being intentionally deflective. See what I am doing there I am showing you there is more then two choices, or two conditions. In much the same way as water can be a vapor, a liquid, or a solid.

The point I was making is this there is all, nothing, and some. I want you to pay real attention to the word some. It is more then nothing, and less then all. Losing support does not equate to all developers ceasing support. Losing is in the present tense, and implies an ongoing process. Do I really need to explain how verbs conjugate. Please do not make me give you an elementary school education.

Losing is not the same as lost or will lose. Hell losing doesn't even imply how much. Though I am sure you think it is everything. Which is actually rather sad when I think about what that means. Sony has lost support, and is losing support. Sony hasn't lost all support, and will probably have support for many years to come. The question is how much support, what kind of support, and who will not be supporting them in full or part.

I think the obscenity is all in your mind. You are reading a subtext that is not there. You need to step away from your persecution complex, and see my statements for what they are. Rational and obvious. Sony has lost exclusivity and games to Microsoft. There is no denying that. This latest story shows the trend is continuing. Whether you think it will bottom out at some point is irrelevant to the discussion. It is a trend, and any trend that involves the PS3 getting less support from developers large or small is not good for the owners. The journalist is right in one thing. Sony has to do something even losing a handful of small developers could have serious effects. Especially when it is a Bethesda which has delivered two high quality games this generation.

In the discussion of PS3 and 360 and on the topic of DLC and exclusive DLC, the Wii is completely irrelevant.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

omg oh no..wait a min...isn't there ps3 exclusive dlc for mirror's edge??...omg that must mean developers abandoning 360 too...omg EA is abandoning 360...rofl this is funny...so i guess that means rockstar abandoning ps3 as well...sigh....

now the really interesting question is if the Wii has sold more 3rd party software than the PS2 in the same time frame

The most interesting question is if Wii has gotten the same quality level of 3rd party software the PS2 got in the same time frame.

Lets keep it in perspective here people.
