Here is a theory just as relevant as any other:
Post news articles like this, because it will cause videogame forums like this to go nuts and post the article OVER AND OVER, drawing attention to the site.
Wow, I was originally going to go for bad humor, but found as I was writing it, it is probably more true than bad humor.
