I am certainly no big Wii fan, and I enjoy playing Racing, Strategy and RPG's (both WRPG and JRPG's) mostly. FPS games can be fun but the last few years has seen really, really few worthwhile games in this genre imo.
At the very least, I'm glad to see that most people are starting to realize that you don't have to be a frothing fanboy or a blithering idiot to not love the Wii, that was getting old.
Tastes differ and right now (and for the last 3-4 years) the PC is my platform of choice.

This idea that the JRPG support of the Wii is undeniable is silly. It doesn't have that many out now, and saying that people should like a console for the potential of good JRPG's, well that's what PS3 fans always get railed for, so I see no reason that you should get away with it.

Erm, I'm pretty sure the PS2 has offered better RPG's the last 2 (or 3 for 360) years than any next-gen (edit: sorry, I know some hate the term) current gen console has so far. That's no fair!

Seriously though, I think Soriku is talking about people with no interest in the Wii, even with its potentially great future. I wouldn't really back that up, since... yeah, I don't want to be preaching about a "future lineup." Can make this thread once the games arrive.

This implies that while the Wii doesn't have many quality Western games, it does instead have many quality Japanese ones. Not that they are coming out, but that they exist right now.

I did specify this to JRPG's because that's the genre I enjoy that makes me a fan of Japanese games, and there is definitely nothing on the Wii that would make me ignorant for disliking the Wii (I don't dislike it, actually I'm fairly neutral to it, though we aren't really talking much since it's in its box)

Mm........ A numora game for the Wii i could careless about if it ever were to happen. Wii needs atleast one from that great man even though i highly doubt it.

And as for Valkryie Profile getting another sequel, look were Star Ocean 4 went.

But by some miracle if it were to happen (VP) it would be a blow to me as a tri-ace fan because i love there games, but my Spitefulness against the wii is with a blaze'n passion.

Btw "Maybe" = yes because you've noticed my recent posts have you? ever since i went dual-HD i've been attacked by Wii owners for not going Wii > 360. (Im looking @ you Maxwell and 11ht11... O_0)

They are two different series with different audiences. Valkyrie Profile is more niche than Star Ocean. Main Stream games do well on all consoles, but the Wii will do better for Niche games because of its varied audience and larger userbase allowing for a much wider target for them to hit their audience. Star Ocean 3 also did better in the West than in Japan where the 360 isn't doing AS bad in.VP on the other hand does equally well or less well in the West making the Japanese market much more important. Also Star Ocean 4 being a bigger series makes it a much more likely choice for microsoft to moneyhat. Also I don't buy that console loyalty stuff. Tri Ace(or maybe even Square Enix who has the rights to the IP?) will probably go where they think they could make more money. I think the most likely platform is PSP then Wii/PSP, then 360/PS3, then Wii, then 360, then PS3 from greatest to least.

@OP No from what I observed people who dislike the Wii fall into many different categories not just the one you mentioned. They either dislike at least 1 or most of the time more of the following things. These aren't in any particular order btw. These are also the main reasons there could be others that I didn't mention.

1 They don't like Japanese games as much as Western games, and as you mentioned the Wii doesn't really do well in that area.

2 They don't like Nintendo games. One of the main appeal of the Wii is 1st party games, and it always has been. If you don't like at least one 1st party series then you most likely won't like the Wii as a console.

3 They are loyal to a brand. This is also could be called being a fanboy. Most of the time these people stick with their company of choice no matter what. They  will defend this console just because of growing up with them. There is nothing wrong with this unless they start bashing other consoles and pointing out the flaws of these consoles because of this.

4 They don't like the Wii's controls. I can't see what is wrong with the Wii's controls, but there are many people who dislike this and dislike the Wii aswell because of this.

5 They don't like the graphical capabilities. Personally I am fine with the graphical capabilities of the Wii, and have been fine with those of the PS2(which are ALOT worse than that of the Wii). There are some who can't have anything less than HD and won't be interested in ANY games on the Wii because of this.

6 They aren't very up-to date on the Wii's library and think that there is only shovelware and nothing else.

7 They think the Wii is for girls and kids just because alot of their friends think that. (I see this alot in school). This is mostly teenagers my age who think this.

Anyway there isn't only one reason why people will dislike the Wii, actually there are tons of them. I could tell you this though that there are tons of reasons to dislike any console and its games, and its ok to do so. That is as long as you don't try to tell somebody they are wrong or made a bad choice for choosing to like such console.

In all honesty I appreciate the Wii getting those JRPGs simply because it gets us some JRPGs, and that's almost exclusively what I play. And because clutching handhelds tires me out pretty quickly.
Also partly because the lower capabilities of the hardware encourage more style over realism - and I vastly prefer the anime look.

However I don't really like the controls (even without motion, the buttons' layout just doesn't feel comfortable to me). So in a way I'd rather even have those JRPGs on the PS2.

I would prefer those games on a HD console, simply for the better textures and smoother lines. Tales of Vesperia was pretty much what I wanted from current-gen JRPGs, but that is also the extent to which I want graphics improved. But it's hardly a must, my PS2 is still my most played console.
Well, this gen has been pretty lacking for me so far, doesn't matter which console, I think I have 3 games on each that I really wanted and enjoyed.


edit: Looking at the list above I also don't care for the Nintendo franchises much, if at all. Got my Wii for Trauma Center.

finally someone is right on the money. I hate the wii because I love FPS and the wii has no good FPS. World at War is garbage (even on PS360) and so is CoD3 and Medal of Honor.

 No. The Wii doesn't have ANY quality games that interest me, period.
