LOL!!!!! The only thing microsoft and/or nintendo should steal from sony is god of war ;)

Actually, Killzone 2.  That is actually the only thing at this point that I would need a PS3 for.  I have a Blu Ray player.

KZ2??? That's nothing if you already have Halo and Gears, and keep getting a tons of shooters (of course, considering you have a X360).

But God of War, where do you see a title like that coming to Wii or X360????

That's the only title i need to play on the ps3.

@NJ5: Yeah, Ninja Gaiden was good, but still, god of war (imo) is better. Plus i like more the game (i rather be a semi-god than a ninja. I rather kill ancient mithology than other ninjas)

Errr no thanks.

I think the title should read: 5 mistakes Sony made that Microsoft and Nintendo should emulate and one decent suggestion.

Tease.

I wonder if the other two lists are going to consist of ways to make the other companies lose money the way this one has.

Also what does #2 mean? What's so restrictive about XBLA in comparison to PSN and what does that have to do with Flower? Is it a big file size or something?

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

I was like *ZING!* as soon as I hit #1.

You can pass most or God Of War by button mashing... Try doing that in Ninja Gaiden even in the easiest difficulty.

Well I don't want to derail this topic into a NG vs GoW battle, so here are my comments on the article:

1- The PS2 wasn't "future proof" (as if there's such a thing) and it's having a long lifetime, while the more "future-proof" Xbox and Gamecube are now dead. This future-proof notion is ridiculous and needs to die.

2- This point could be good but I don't know much about those downloadable games.

3- Nah, I'd rather buy some cheap rechargeable batteries and charge them myself, rather than proprietary stuff.

4- No, just no. Too expensive (maybe in the next-gen).

5- This would be nice, although I'd rather have them focusing on more important things.

6-Another point which makes the entry-level consoles expensive and big. It also encourages mandatory installations which suck. No thanks.

3) It may be annoying to have to replace batteries for your controller, but it is equally annoying to have to wait hours to play a game because your controller battery has no charge ... On top of that, modern batteries have a life-span associated with them and replacing all your controllers every 3 to 4 years is pretty annoying too.

I agree with everything else you said but this is way off.  You can play while your controller is charging so their is no wait associated with this.  You also don't have to replace your controller when the rechargeable battery is dead/wont hold a charge.  It is replaceable and opening the controller to replace the battery($5-10 depending on shop) doesn't even void the warranty as some would expect.  I think the controller is the 1 thing Sony did right this gen without any major faults, but that doesnt say very much.  The only thing I dislike is the discontinued Sixaxis.  Sometimes I prefer a lightweight controller and no shock so I like having both.

As for the OP, that list is a joke right?

You might be able to play with the PS3 controller while it was plugged in, but I doubt that you could with the Wiimote

3. Make Rechargeable Batteries the Standard

CUT

(This one is very true, my friend just bought a X360 and he went through about 20 batteries in about two weeks! they were cheap crappy batteries but still.)

let me comment out this... i can see two possibilities:

1)your friend probably needs professional help...i can't see anyone using 20 batteries in 2 weeks without losing touch with reality...how much was he playing? 24 7? if that's the case do him a favour and call a doctor.

2)tell your friend to buy his batteries in another store...don't know where he comes from but here in Italy I can buy cheap batteries and still they last for months of normal gaming (10-15hrs per week of playtime)...I got my x360 in mid November and since then i haven't changed the first pair of batteries (in the mean time i finished GoW2 twice, Mass Effect with alost every side quest, COD5 and i'm in the middle of Fallout3 and GTAIV...add some SF II HD sessions and you get the picture).

2008 year end sales (made in January 2008):

my thoughts exactly.  #1 and #4 are related too.  The only good thing about Sony jumping the gun on technology is it may significantly reduce the cost of their next gen system (if there will be one) as well as reduce the cost of internal components should competitors decide to include them.  This gen it remains mostly a good idea in theory, bad idea in practicality.

For $5-10 I bet you can buy a lot of rechargeable AA batteries. Also, playing while plugged in sucks depending on where your console is... This reminds me I have to buy an extension for my GC controller, once my Wii fell out of the table into the trash bin because of this (fortunately not on the floor).
