Forums - Website Topics - Banning... for siglenth?

Give me a break

I just noticed that Garnett is banned for "SIGLENGTH".  Now. his siglength is a little long, but it's far less annoying than MANy other sigs with flashing and animated pics etc.....

If you want to set a limit, then disallow longer than x chars and just limit it in the program.

But FFS. Don't ban for it!

Perhaps instead of complaining about it, you could do something more constructive, like volunteering your time and writing that limit into the program.

i just reduced the space my sig takes, its a good rule and should be followed. garnets sig was to long

There is a rule, they get warned MULTIPLE times. If they ignore it, they get banned. It isn't that hard to understand.

just set a limit in the code.

Banning for it is dumber than dumb.

Even better would be an option for users to view/not view sigs at all.

Or to hide sigs until you "mouse" over them.

No, what is dumb is getting banned for it.  Unless the sig is something pornographic, everyone gets warnings, in fact, people generally get multiple warnings for sig lengths because it is a stupid thing to get banned for.

The people that do get banned for it are the ones that refuse to shorten their sig or the ones that get warned time and time again and just won't listen.

I know you love to gripe about every single moderation on VGChartz but that's just the way it is.  As I've said to you many times, if you don't like it, don't come back.

Indeed I did get warnings, that is should stay below timeline???
Nevertheless I shorted it and asked that if its ok.

yeah, it's possible to code it in so that you can't possibly go over the max sig length, or people could show an ounce of self control and just follow the damn rules and listen to mods when they tell them to shorten the sig. Either of those could work, and the idea that we might need the first option because people can't handle the second is just pathetic.

I can imagine it's not that simple to set a limit in the site's code. If there are images, you have to check the image dimensions. Then there are weird sigs with embedded stuff which are not easy to measure except by rendering them in a browser.
