Forums - Nintendo - Anybody else annoyed by "wii" in most game title for the wii?

I don't really care and if it makes the game sell more, all the better. I'm glad I can get into a MKWii match almost instantaneously.

Plus Gamecube titles didn't have the word "Gamecube" in it probably because it was long which it would be the same for "playstation" or "xbox." However, Wii and 64 is nice and short.  I'm kind of glad that some games have that.  I mean I refer to SSB and Paper Mario as SSB64 and Paper Mario 64 just because just saying them like it is can mix a lot of people up and is too general.  So I really don't see a problem with it at all.

^^

good point i forgot about PSP.

And I'm not just being nintendo biased here, its annoying how PSP does it. We know its a portable game, it doesn't need to be in the title of the game! If someone's stupid enough to try and stick a UMD in his PS3 then, well I don't know what to say.

I could care less if the the word Wii is in the title. I actually could care less about the title of a game at all. There's no such thing as a bad title to a game. There are only bad games.

No, it doesn't :D

I find it kind of unusual myself ...

I suspect that Nintendo has focused on naming their consoles in such a way that it makes it easy for third party publishers to name their games in a way that incorporates (at least part of) the name. There were tons of "Super" games for the Super Nintendo, "64" games on the N64, "Color" games on the Gameboy Color, "Advance" games on the Gameboy Advance, and there have been quite a few games that used "DS" in some form on the Nintendo DS ... The standout system seems to be the Gamecube, and I suspect that if it had the exclusive development of the other systems there would have been a lot of games with "Cube" in their title.

Or perhaps with a super-scripted 3...which would probably be lost on pretty much 98% of the audience.

Look at this link. It's pretty common.
