Um, three of the four are official Playstation things so that puts my doubts in to the accuracy of the composite score. Also the 4th one cites this as making "Gears of War 2 look like a high school attempt at gaming" which sounds a lot like a fanboy biased comment to me.

But anyways, I'm just saying I don't trust this current total as an accurate measure of what the game will get total, but I guess time will tell how it turns out overall.

Gamepro is pretty lax on their reviews though. I highly doubt you will see it get 10's across the board.

Eh, they ave Uncharted an 8.5 and Resistance 2 an 8, both of which are at least a half a point below their averages.  They don't seem to overrate games very often.

Of course the review scores are going to be high. The places that are giving it 'meh' or 'fair' reviews aren't allowed to post them until later because they've signed some sort of agreement to that effect...

Let's face it, Killzone 2 doesn't deserve to get perfect scores. I know this will score higher than Resistance 2 but it's not fair at all. R2 innovated in so many ways - what is K2 doing for the genre? Nothing. All I've seen in regards to innovation is a cover system which, let's face it, people will never remember to use. Sure it looks alright but beyond that there's nothing else. You can't keep giving the same game perfect scores every time it's released under a new name. It shouldn't score as highly as COD4, TF2 or R2 if there was any justice.

Let's hope once this game manages to lose Sony millions of the huge budget they've spent on it, they'll make something interesting. That's if they haven't gone bankrupt before then.

Resistance 2 may be more innovative (and that is quite arguable), but it certainly isn't more fun.  Based on what I've played of each, at least.

Ultimately the enjoyability of a game is what should determine it's score, in my opinion.

Yes, but how long are the same repetitive shooting mechanics going to be fun for? The Playstation generation are acting like FPS games and online multiplayer are a whole new thing. Killzone 2 is the same old crap dressed up with sparkles and motion blur and should be scored as such.

And R2 is FAR more innovative in about as many ways as an FPS can be these days, I don't see how you can argue that.

What the hell is innovative about Resistance 2? 60 player online battles? Done before, and you never really noticed it. Squad based objective battles? Wow, you go around in a group of 6 and capture beacons.

I would say Killzone 2 is a hell of a lot more innovative than R2. For one, it has a cover system, entirely in first person. Nobody will remember to use it? Really? Then they can have fun dying every ten seconds.

I don't dislike R2, I think it's very good. But frankly, Killzone 2 makes it look like crap in just about every way.

@haters: Of course, before the reviews came in, it was "these are just previews", then it became "that's an official magazine, wait for real reviews", MEGamers came in, "they got paid off by Sony", so what'll happen when IGN and GameSpot write reviews? Moneyhatted? Overrated due to hype? Reviews don't matter?
