Obama can't do anything he's so tied down by the companies that got him into power... just like any other president.

Less than 2% of Japan's population is not ethnically Japanese. The immigration laws there are VERY strict... You can move there from korea when your 2 and live your whole life without the full rights of a citizen.

And yet, when he's unable to fulfill all the promises he made, people will start to blame it on him... People are retarded.

No it makes perfect sense. If the japanese economy is going to have a serious recession for several years it may hit the hd console market significantly, thus making a console with a bigger percentage of the market outside of japan more useful as they might not be able to guarentee that the ps3 (or the 360 lol) will continue selling at current levels for the next few yeard in their domestic market meaning that foreign markets will become increasingly important.

The japanese video game market has been in decline for ages now.
The economic recession will of course not help to change that trend, but the Japanese video game industry probably has more to fear from the general trend than from this recession.

I think the economic cycle has a rather small impact on the video game market. It is supposed to grow to a record level in 2009 both in Europe and the U.S., isn't it?

I know for sure that in the case of Germany the market has been steadily growing in the past years, although Germany also faced a rather long period of little-to no economic growth (much like Japan).
