Forums - Nintendo - Wii Mysterious Dark Game: Winter

It'll be very interesting to see if this game gets picked up by a publisher following IGN's preview. It worked for Conduit (and how, with Nintendo even talking about that game when they get the chance), but this is a bit different. Especially with the downturn in the economy.

Actually, I'm wondering. Would tough times make publishers more or less likely to pick up a game like this? The demo didn't take many people, so maybe they'd see it as a cheap way to get a game out there, or maybe they just wouldn't want to risk it.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

given the fact it was done in about 6 weeks by a team of 12 it looks pretty decent. And it is a 2 years old footage, am sure if green lit the game can look much better.

Also, in '07 the install base of wii was not this big and many were still calling it a fad (some do it even now but 50 mil is number you can't just ignore). I feel the game has a better chance of being picked up now than it had two years ago.

As for the game itself, it seems like true survival horror and if made well could really do decently in terms of sales since there aren't much titles like this in the market (and am not talking just bout wii games here).

I just stumbled on this game in a rare visit to IGN. I was going to post a thread about it but I saw it was already being discussed. Interesting concept, hopefully the publicity that IGN has provided will get the game a publisher.

There too many Wii's being sold for publishers to continue to bury their heads in the sand. In comparison to a similar HD game project, Winter has a much lower risk and much greater potential reward. With the down turn in the world economy, it would make more sense than ever to invest in Wii projects.

Why didn't they do this after conduit's success in obtaining a publisher? It's been two years since they began... It looks good (specially considering the amount of time they worked on it), but won't it come out a bit late?
Well, like they say, better late than never.

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

Although the game at this point looks a bit ugly and boring, and especially unpolished, it is all understandable seeing as how it was made in 6 weeks. The ending of the video freaked me out though, it reminded me of [REC] (Spanish zombie film).

The game has potential, but thick headed publishers are sealing their demise with their nonsense.

Certainly if n-Space renewed their efforts now, they could find a home. One of those western publishers eager to pay lip-service to the platform (but never actually put any of their precious development staff on so lowly a task) would be perfect for it, kinda like how Ubisoft took on Tenchu and NMH

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Serious Resident Evil (0, 1, 2, 3, CV) nostalgia watching that footage.

I hope they do make this game simply because I always thought Res 4 lost a lot of what made the original games eerie. Not saying 4 is bad - it isn't, but I'd love to play another game in a similar vein to the original titles. Even the end monster reminds me of Lisa Trevor from Resident Evil 1.

Ok. This is random but I went to IGN and they posted about the petition. I clicked on the link and Matt Cass was the most recent signature. He's 4908. Since then, many people have signed so I guess IGN is making this game really popular!

Let's E-mail spam Sega to publish Winter!

they should do some kind of mini game tasters for this game, maybe intruducing background plots and get nintendo to release them via wii ware installments with some kind of incentive stating that anybody who has these games and completed the wii ware tasters ( in a game save file) unlocks something.

This might get more people on board and maybe create some hype and a unique experience to gather meia coverage. Seriously though this is why Nintendo need to get playable demos or at least allow third party video reels to be shown on the nintendo channel so games like this can get more air space as it were.
