sorry, poor choice of words... ill say their a hell of a lot more focused on the ps3 then, well still theirs no denying the fact that the ps2 is dying because the ps3 is out. FFXIII for example was moved to ps3.
and for some reason i feel like i dont wanna buy new ps2 games anymore, even though im a big RPG fan, i didnt even pick up persona 3.

At the moment Blu-Ray looks like a big mistake to a lot of people. But in a year from know everyone will be glad they did it. This winter Disney is goign to be pushing Blu-ray like their is no tommorow, and Sony will have Spiderman 3 coming. Once people start to buy Blu-ray and Sony brings in the money from that it give them a chance to drop the PS3 more. Not only does Blu-ray give them the advantage of another source of income, it also gives them the room to make epic games. I know eveyone try's to call anyone an idiot that says Blu-ray is good for gaming, but the fact is, it is. 1080p Mpegs take a lot of space, and as a lot of devs are starting to find out, if you capture a real time cut scence in Mpeg and play it back that way you can load in the background. This will give the PS3 a more seamless gameplay exeriance then the Wii or the 360.

People talking about PS2's Life Span

The PS2 will have a ten year life span. It doen't end when the PS3 came out, it ends when Sony stops producing them. Which unless Sony has to kill it to get people to shift to PS3 I feel it could go on longer than 10 years. This winter it will go down to 99.99 and Sony is bringing some good titles to it, plus their is a company that is bringing out games that willl compete with Wii sports. I have a feeling that if all plays out right the PS2 could take another victum in its life. It has already owned the 360 and will probably sell more units from nov 2005 to its death than the 360 will in its lfe span. If publishers can prove you can get the same experance on the PS2 as the Wii (which would also mean the PS3) and for less money it could hurt the Wiin this winter. As I have said in my market percentage thread, this will be the most interesting consol this winter.

DS a fad = true

The DS is really nothing special. The only reason it has killed the PSP is becasue Sony rolled over and died on that system. With the new model coming out and I cross my fingers, a download service to back it, their is a chance Sony could swing the momentum around. With games like FF and GoW coming the PSP is looking strong, and if we could onl;y get GT added to that list we could be looking at a PSP resurgance next year.

Why the PS3 will when

Even with its early faultering and the poor marketing and great success of Wii the PS3 just has to much potintal to loose. In the end it will just offer the consumer to much. Mr. Stringer has put Sony on the shoulders of the PS3 and Sony will do whatever it takes to when this thing. Don't expect the price to stay were it is for long. Blu-ray as mentioned before is going to bring in a lot of money and it will help Sony be able to continue to loose on hardware if need be. I feel that Home is going to become the next big thing, and Sony will be rakeing in the money from people with that. I would expect the PS3 to have a redisign by sept 09 and the price should be down to 249.99. At the end of the day Sony has woke back up, the real world has came back, and smacked them in the face. When Sony is awake, inspired, and passonate they truley are

Blue ray is good, but in the market, how many people really really care enough right now? How long did DVD's take?

Nothing like a non special system to be sold out worldwide huh? I'd say it was game sales. Look at them. Somehow, someway PSP forgot it was a gaming device, maybe between the music SD cards and UMD movies. Whee, I'm competing against better marketed devices!

At 250, I'd probably buy one. Unless mysteriously 2009 comes out and I find little I really want to play. Though that's unlikely. So that prediction, I like. I should be out of student debt, and hopefully into home owner debt by then!

I'm still wondering how a console version of Second Life will do anything for the system. Little Big Planet, I imagine would have the better community.

DS = phenomenon

Now I know you're nothing but a dirty fanboy, everything you have to say regarding Sony or its competitors shouldn't be entertained because there's a good chance that you're reaching into the deepest regions of your intestines. It's funny, really. When Wii gets a spinoff it's the end of Nintendo. When PSP gets 2 or 3 spinoffs amongst the endless ports, its lineup is magically "looking strong."

People who say PSP will beat DS someday are as insane as some homeless guy who says the world will end next year's chrismas. It has only outsold it twice for a week, and has seen far lower sales since the launch of the Lite.

For that, you may call me a fanboy, but before you do, realise that it is THE TRUTH.

yet people think that in two years (note, the DS is approaching three years old) the Wii sales will suddenly tank and the PS3 will win overall. This appears to be perfectly accepted by many people. Yet I don't think anyone seriously expects the PSP to overtake the DS.

That's a preciously naive perspective on things. The difference between Wii and PS3 fans is that most Wii fans on this site don't say or post a damn thing or even partake of any PS3 or 360 bashing. Wii fans typically aren't defined by the fanboys of their fandom as most are content to use reality and market trends to make their points were as we see PS3 fans such as yourself define the Ps3 fandom by delussions of master plans and grand schemes of everything magically working out for the console you like. Maybe if you tried using sensical and logical arguments and reasoning you wouldn't feel like such an outcast in a community that values facts and statistics, not dellusions.

Yes the ps1 and ps2 had different launches and so has the ps3.... And yes no console has the same future. What you will find is ps fans follow the track record for Sony and their consoles. Sony is not concern about the race now. They know they have the games, the product and the fan base to get them there. The thing is... Too many Wii fans have counted the race as finished. But, it has only begun. It should be the time for the 360 and the Wii to start to bury the ps3, because if they don't they it will be history repeating themselves. Do you forget the user base of the ps2? Even in Japan? People are waiting for a two things- price drop and games. When that comes into play... the Wii and 360 better hold on to their crowns becuase the PS3 will be fast gaining (look at the effects of the small interim pricedrop in the usa @$400us). Everyone is already saying in 2008 is Sony's yr and that it will pass the 360. I know why ppl put the hate on Sony and the ps3. Because they know it's potential and ppl know Sony can deliever. Well wasn't that a jolly lot of well-wishing. Funny how all of your pro-points for the PS3 boil down to predictions that you can't offer any tangible evidence for. And what does your whole argument boil down to, the mantra of every Sony Fanboy, that the PS3 HAS THE POTENTIAL. I'm sorry, potential means nothing if you can't tap it, and trust me, without appeal for third party support or a cheaper streamlined way to develop games for the PS3, that Potential will be little more an untapped aspect of a virtually handicapped piece of hardware. Today you say the "PS3 has the potential" but ten years from now I have a feeling you will be left with little more to say than the "PS3 had the potential".

There are perfectly reasonable and respectable reasons to like the PS3, however I just wish you wouldn't choose to instead spin ridiculous ones on us and expect to take you seriously.
