Forums - Nintendo - I'm really excited about Wii in 2009! What expectations do you guys have?

I think it'll be a great year this year as we also have titles like Red Steel 2 that has been forgot about, Balance Board games like SWS have proved they sell well.  There's companies like Sega, HVS and THQ seriously stepping up to the mark now to deliver good third party titles like Madworld, the conduit, Deadly Creatures, HOTD Overkill.

On top of this we have Tenchu 4 and FF4 hitting Europe and poss US as well as other B list titles like Broken Sword port coming.

This is all not counting new WM+ titles and Nintendo's huge announcements as they will have gave third parties about a year to make their mark from around summer (when I expect announcements to start getting released) and Wii play titles like Pikmin, MP and matbe some GC third party titles like Rogue Squadron, Eternal Darkness etc being released on that label (just a hunch - that one).

Gonna be a great year for Wii - I can feel it

I'm actually very excited for what Retro has up their sleeve. I'm sure it'll be something awe-inspiring. Also we still don't know what Renegade Kid is working on. We don't know what Monster Games is working on. What Factor 5 is doing....just so many companies that could release great games.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

Again, do not expect Mario or Zelda to launch this year, it is too soon (yes, even for Zelda, it still hasn't been showed in any event). I know that in 2009 makes 3 years since twilight princess, but I don't really thing Nintendo is going to launch such a big tittle without showing it to the public in the previous year, they need to create a bit of hype for the game the same than they did with Super Smash Bros (oh, well, maybe not that much ). I expect to see the first trailer of Zelda this E3.

In all honesty.. does a Zelda game really need to be hyped? It's Zelda for pete's sake.

Anyway, I'm sure an announcement at E3 and a holiday release would garner enough hype in itself.

I am really excited about monster hunter 3. It better come to NA. I am looking forward to Conduit, Crystal Chronicles, and Little King story.

Looks to be a great year for Nintendo.

95% of gamers don't know they are noobs, the 5% who do won't be noobs for long

Check out my kickstarter project: http://kck.st/15CEuUT

Check out my blog: http://www.metropolisgaming.com

my expectation are a little lower than yours, no zelda or F-zero, but star-fox....maybe and the rest was announced and I'm hyped.

That.... was a really long read. But a nice one and interesting too... i guess i'll pay more attention to LKS, looks interesting and fun. But i think overlord will be better... probably i'll get both though

Well, as long as you get it too, I guess I'll shut up about it...

well noname, the only reason i'm even considering your petty game is it's apparently copying so much off of pikmin (the greatest game ever made imo).

otherwise i would leave it to be alone and unloved in the used bin

it's actually more parts Dark Cloud rather than Pikmin, building cities, rescuing townspeople, getting missions from your subjects.

Little King's Story is more like....Little King's Story!

Haven't read everything here... but if the next Zelda only makes it out next year, and it is a massive gap of 4 years between console versions of the franchise... Shouldn't it be something new and massive for the series? It won't be as big a leap between LttP and OOT, but I'd expect it to be the biggest leap in direction, structure and possibly style since then. Just a thought.

Pikmin 3, Punch Out and Sin and Punishment 2 are my confirmed first party picks. I'm hoping for Kid Icarus and F Zero along with those. Fragile and MadWorld are the most interesting third party titles for me.

Since rumor has it, that the next Mario game will be a direct sequel to Galaxy, which then most likely "just" will mean more of the fantastic SMG gameplay, levels and probably the same engine, I think there's a good chance, that we allready could se it this holiday season - since they don't have to build it from the ground up - like they did with the first..

And since the new Zelda game is rumored to be a total rewamped Zelda expericence (with all of the new Nintendo patents and all), I think there's a good chance, that we wont see it until 2010 - besides SquarEnix has announced, that Final Fantasy XIII won't be relased until spring 2010, and what other game, than the next Zelda could be better for Nintendo to counter the next Final Fantasy with than Zelda (well maybe Dragon Quest X in Japan, if they can make it)..

But becides that - regarding 2009 I'm really looking forward to some of the rumored and uannouced secrets from all the major studios - most of all Capcom - hopefully they will announce some sort of RE game for the Wii, since they can't ignore the sales, demand and posiblities - espeacially with Wii Motion Plus..
Not to mention SquareEnix - and especially what they will do with Kingdom Hearts 3, which all eyes have been upon for sime time now..

It will be interesting to see what will hapen with Kid Icarus, and Star Wars Battle Front 3 too for that matter..

I'm also really looking forward to hear more about Retro Studios secret project..

Of course F-Zero and Star Fox (both now finally with online play yei), are high on my radar too, but to see them both in 2009 along with all of Nintendo's other stuff, is probably unlikely - though one of them might hapen this year..
And new IP's from Nintendo are allway's exciting and interesting - hopefully we will get to see som sort of new thing that isn't a new "Wii Sports/Play Music" thing - but more like a new Mario/Zelda/Metroid/Star Fox IP..

And becides that - I'm really looking forward to play and see how titles like Madworld, The Conduit, Fatal Frame 4, Punch Out, Cosmic Walker, Red Steel 2, Sin and Punishment 2, Technu 4, Deadly Creatures, Monster Hunter 3, Metroid Wiimakes and all the JRPG's etc. etc. will turn out and get recived..

So all in all 2009 has me very excited and intrigued - and I can't wait till the
ball starts running..

Expectations? I dunno about expectations. I'm just ready to enjoy some video games, and also catch up on some titles that I haven't bought over the past year or so (Looking at you Zack & Wiki).

But for this year, these are titles that I know I'm gonna buy:

MadWorld, Muramasa, Sin & Punishment 2, Klonoa, Little King's Story, Endless Ocean 2, Sonic & the Black Knight, House of the Dead, The Conduit, Deadly Creatures, Let's Tap, and Wii Sports Resort.

Yeesh, those are must buys for me this year, and I'm not even getting into titles that are on my radar... not to mention the random Nintendo title that'll be revealed and released this year (most likely Kid Icarus, and hopefully more).

My poor wallet.

I'm just interested to see what developers do with WM+, though we probably won't see much take advantage of this until towards the end of the year.
