P3 is awesome, you won't regret it. Also try the regular SMT games like SMT:Nocturne, DDS & DDS2. Nocturne doesn't have voice acting (which is one of the best things about the persona series) but it's gameplay is unmatched and it's story is as unique as it gets.

How is it one of the best things? DDS 1 & 2 have English VA and its absolutely fantastic...

Persona 3 and 4's voice acting is very good. very funny in many cases. I wasn't sure if this is why he liked Persona 4 because  he may not find the true gem in SMT:Nocturne if he can't see beyond that (like my cousin lol). I never slighted DDS voice acting, just Nocturne in which case there just isn't any.

Those of us who played JRPGs in the ps1 era where even FF didn't have VA (and even before that) don't care about VA as much as the multitude who were converted to JRPGs by FFX (like my cousin again)

Haha, I started off FFX and I prefer JRPG's with VA rather than not... although I don't mind them to have none.

Atlus easily is my favourite developer.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Let me just start this off by saying that im a HUGE Anime fan. From Dragonball Z to Naruto to Kenshin I love em all.

That's not a very wide variety of genres.

I actually hated Nocturne. It was far too difficult and repetitive. However, P3FES and P4 are magnificant, as are the DDS games. Critics liked Nocturne, so maybe it was just me. :P

FYI, Dante from DMC is in Nocturne.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Is the story still playable if you've never played a persona game before?

Yes, different story and different characters. They are some references to Persona 3 though.

@shadow, you should get Nocturne, my favorite SMT game. I just love the dark feel to it, but maybe you should wait a bit since Atlus might bring the new director's cut of it along with the second Raidou Kuzunoha game.

welcome anime fan. i am too ;)
and i love atlus. persona is one of the few games ive never played by them...

I'm still mad, that I couldn't find a PS3 with BC.....

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
