I know Wii Fit is a gaming phenomenon but don't take away from smaller games that also deliver entertainment. That's like saying Spiderman 3 is better than Pan's Labyrinth.

And I wasn't saying reviews are fair and balanced, just that these games did not receive universal scorn. Those that play admit that they enjoy at least one of the games.

Never mind, if you don't see a problem here I'm sure we will never see this in the same way, but I appreciate your taking time to discuss it.

My only point is that there are those that continue to be puzzled about Nintendo's success without realizing to what an extent MS & Sony contribute to it by ignoring the changing shape of the gaming market.

I understand. I just like being Devil's Advocate every once in a while. ; )

IMO stats like these are misleading.

26% of gamers were over the age of 50?
The average game player age is 35?
40% of gamers are female?

I hope this was all true, but in these polls if someone ever touched a gaming controller they're registered as a gamer.

The only information included:

"The data included in 2008 Essential Facts was gathered in an annual study conducted by Ipsos-MediaCT for the ESA. The study is the most in-depth and targeted survey of its kind, gathering data from over 1,200 nationally representative households that have been identified as owning either or both a video game console or a personal computer used to run entertainment software."

Bear in mind that whatever methods or definitions were used; this is a survey comissioned by and for game developers and therefore presumably has a major impact on their plans.
