I think it's too hard to call, the markets aren't constant, there are too many variables to consider. If sony pulled a 100$ price drop out of the bag before GOWIII and GT5, and if ms don't really reveal much of interest at E3 I'd say the gap would close considerably this year. Otherwise if ms keep bringin out the occasional blockbuster and sony keep their high price and low marketing, then yeah, things will continue as normal : )

i don't know which world you live in, but over here the ps3 launched a year and a bit later than the 360.

How many units did the 360 close in on the PS3 in the Holiday 08'?  2.5 million?     People like to act like these gaps absolutely must be a steady thing.   The truth is,  they aren't.  If when Final Fantasy releases, the PS3 outsells the 360 by 100,000 for two weeks straight.  When GT5 releases, similar effect.  A huge price cut around the holidays?    Still have yet to hit that 'sweet spot' of $200. 

It's way too early to call it a victory. Especially with tons of PS2 owners still waiting to upgrade and especially when many people still haven't upgraded to HDTVs or HD generation.  As long as Sony maintains  third party support (Which they totally will) and keeps pumping out exclusive games they are in the thick of the battle.

and exactly how does that matter? it doesn't mean its going to get an extra year on the market simply because it came out a year later.

Is it shameful that PS3 has sold so much less then PS2? Perhaps. I think it is even more shameful that a 250 Billion doller company (MS) will be getting spanked by a 50 Billion doller company (Sony) two console generations in a row.

It's pretty shameful that the 360 is a year older and hlaf the price of the PS3 with only a 8 million unit lead. How many units had the 360 sold when it was the same age?3,923,987 LESS then the PS3.

And the 720 will be using X-rays afaik with my infinite knowledge xD  200TB disks that also act as projectors, just spin the disk infront of a light. I like bizzaro land : D
