but the thing is

I didn't think ANYONE cared about Mortal Kombat anymore

Series like Mortal Kombat and Sonic that tried really hard to be "Cool" in the early 90s ended up aging pretty poorly, but there is still a ton of people who have very fond memories of these games. When there is a crossover with another series that has amazing popularity (Mario because of the DS/Wii’s popularity, DC Universe because of recent success with Superman and Batman movies) this adds a new found relevance to these series and their old fanbase becomes interested.

ok

but surely you mean Spider-Man.....superman returns was a flop commercially....lol

Oh jeez. Spider-man = Marvel. X_x Though I love Marvel, I'd rather spend the rest of my life watching Superman Returns then the last Spider-Man movie. bleh. Venom died within 5 minutes of being on the screen. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT?

ohhhhhhhh......so thats why people at school lol'd at me when I said that

BTW I agree....Venom was such a great villain in the tv series n comics....they RUINED him....he deserved a whole movie with him as the main villain character......but I am talking commercially

commercially SPider-Man 3 surpassed even Spider-man 2....Superman Returns was a big flop

Its domestic box-office was  $200,081,192 (#89 All-Time)
Its worldwide box-office was $391,081,192 (#101 All-Time)

Yes, but the budget was also $209,000,000. Given that the domestic box office was less than the budget, that movies are generally supposed to at least double their budget for a good profit, and that the studio probably expected more, it wasn't a success. Perhaps not a "flop," but it wasn't successful.

@montana

exactly my point

high budget....low profits eveb though it did like 500 million

I have a hard time seeing how 591 mllion WW box office is a flop for a 209 million budget movie.  That doesn't even count DVD sales.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

@johnsobas

compared to spidey n now batman movie sales....thats an utter disappointment

also tell me why the people who made Superman Returns themselves said they were disappointed with the movie's sales & reception....not only that but there isn't even a word of a sequel to that movie.

overall its quite obvious people who made the film weren't happy with how it did for them.....or at the least you would've heard of a sequel by now

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Both you and Darth have stated 591 million, but I'm reading 391 million. Is there something wrong with my eyesight? Besides, DVD sales tend to be lower for films that were viewed as disappointing. Spiderman 3 saw this happen, and Superman Returns did as well.

@montana

sorry I added the two cus I though worldwide meant "rest of the world"

well if its ONLY 391 Million

NO WONDER the makers said they were disappointed by the reception n sales

my point just became more firm!

Because NPD confirmed Sony shipment numbers for LBP? Sony themselves said VGC was off by no less than 500,000 units (1.3m shipped by EoY vs. 1.8m tracked). Most likely 100-300k lower in sales, due to units sitting on retailer shelves.

So that'd greatly reduce LBP's December sellthrough numbers, while MK vs. DC may be a little higher - 10-15%.

Maybe Brett just wanted to give the Sony fans some love, and it fell through.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

your claiming the site's owner changes & edit's sales numbers and makes them artificially high to give SONY fanboys love.

is this your little brother posting or something?

might not be that overtracked, it was 350k between oct and nov npd right? Not totally sure but we're probably looking at around 200k for december. Add in canada and you got 600k, vgchartz has it at 800k. eh, not immense.

33%?  That's a pretty big error margin.
