Neither Microsoft or Nintendo are sinking. On the other hand Sony is indeed sinking. This is not new it is an established fact. Sony has lost market share, mind share, profitability, and if that is not sinking I do not know what is sinking. Once again the binary thinking rises to the top in these forums.
You can be sinking, and yet still be afloat. There is a middling ground where a ship is sinking, and yet has not sunk beneath the waves. I would say in the latter part of last year the Sony bilge pump started to suffer some problems. Before that Sony was starting to right the ship, and get the boat higher above the water line. Now however due to exchange rates, and a tighter economy the trend has reversed itself again.
I think the hyperbole has gotten a little too eccentric lately. There is too much of the overreacting, and too much protectionism going about. Sony is slipping backwards, and its very likely that the generation is lost to them. Rooting for Sony is fine and well, but falling back on idiotic hyperbole doesn't help the situation. All it accomplishes is to come off as desperate. When I read these things all I can think is that the poster has run out of good arguments.
