Forums - Nintendo - Metroid Prime Wiimake

I plan on getting both Primes, DK, ChibiRobo, Pikmin 2 and Mario Tennis.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Super Mario 3D Land

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

I just beat both of the GC ones on GC discs with my Wii . . . cost me ten bucks.  Great games.

I'm glad my 360 doesn't release remakes of Xbox games, it's Halo 1 . . . with improved graphics!  snore.

C'mon Wii, barely 5 good games in a year and they announce a pile of remakes.  How about Metroid Prime 4?

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

I won't pick it up because I own it for the Cube. But I might rent it for a playthrough. MP3 left me torn. On the one hand, the controls were amazing (yanking back with the grappling beam was one of the greatest gaming sensations I've ever had) but to be honest, the game just didn't have the level design, atmosphere or artistic design of Prime. I love Prime... It's perfect in every single stinking way.

stof, I have to disagree with you. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption had an amazing artistic design. It can especially be seen on Bryyo. Also, introducing Samus' ship in the gameplay part of the game was probably the most brilliant thing Retro has done to the Metroid series. It also did what it had to do, meaning changing the narrative in Metroid games. Honestly, I want more "Metroid Fusion style" stories in my Metroids! Need. More. Federation stuff!

Retro Studios outdid themselves!

I have to say this though, the final hours in Metroid Prime are definitely more epic than MP3:C's.

Agreed. The only thing I would argue was nominally better about 1, was the weapon system. But I really didn't miss those in MP3, as everything else was elevated so much. The art direction on MP3 was insanely good! Best I've seen in a Nintendo game to date. (Twilight Princess ranks up there, too.)

HATING OPHELIA- Coming soon from Markosia Comics!

Oh, forgot to mention: Of course I will buy the Wii-makes!

Prime is one of my favorite 3d gaming series, so to play it with MP3 style controls will be a dream come true!

You do know the point of the Wiimakes is Wii control, right? I'd be willing to bet the graphics are unchanged, kind of like Twilight Princess. (I would be inclined to buy Super Mario 64 with Galaxy graphics though)

I'll definitely be getting Prime. I avoided the game in the first place because of dual analog controls, I have no excuse now.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

Buying without question. I refuse to play a dual analog controlled first person game. The controls in MP3 were awesome though. Plus, 3 was the first I'd played so it's a chance to play the old one again.

Will buy it to get rid of my Old GC copy (Will be sold on Ebay)

I hope they will do the same for Metroid Prime 2.

I'm still not sure about that one. I still have to finish Okami and Zack and Wicki and I'm gonna buy Dragon Quest 5 and Chrono Trigger for DS soon. Unfortunately I tend to buy games and not finish them lately so I'm still undecided.

That said I loved Metroid Prime, it was the best game on Gamecube for me. Zelda and Mario both didn't impress me that much compared to what Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time did but Metroid Prime was groundbreaking to me. Unfortunately Retro completely forgot what Metroid is all about with Metroid Prime 3: Being completely alone on a planet you don't know with no help from anybody and exploring the environment. Metroid Prime 3 lacked both the "being on your own" and the "exploring" part - hell there was always somebody talking to you and half of the items could be collected by just running through the game (After every 90 minutes or so there was an energy tank right in front of you!)

No , Retro listened to complaints regrading the game witch came from both critics and fans, streamlined the backtracking, increased the pace and flow, made the locations larger and maintained the atmosphere from the first. I do agree that Prime 3 is not as good as the first but IMO it wipes the floor with the still excellent Prime 2 as well Super Metroid. which i have always felt was horrifically overated anyway.
