I know that Nintendo has some issue with EGM, as they cancelled the Reggie interview.

I believe Nintendo canceled that.

*sigh*

I subscribe to GFW despite the M$ buyout, I subscribe to EGM, and I currently subscribe to PC Magazine, although that might slip. They are $36 together for a year. Great deal.

I also listen to every podcast although I skip a lot of the Legendary Thread due to the fact that I don't play WoW. However, they talk about other MMOs and Blizz Con the last few weeks.

The 1UP Show is the best videocast on the internet, imo. If someone disagrees please let me know of an alternative, especially a videogame one because it seems IGN no longer does one (oranyone else for that matter).

To sum up: I would be devestated if 1UP or their print went away or split up. A lot of their print crew are guests on several podcasts and videocasts. They need to stay together. Ziff sucks if they can't keep the best product making money.

Edit:  In fact, I'm going to watch the 1UP Show right now.

I don't like their style of writing and their ratings feel exaggerated to me , so it wouldn't be that much of a loss to me , but I'd feel bad for the people who are fond of them.

I used to really enjoy EGM about 10 years ago.  I found they went downhill around the time one of their reviewers went to University (I can't remember his name though).  It's sad how a lot of people seem to be angry at them.  At one time or another Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo were all pissed at the magazine.  I still trust their reviews though and think they're one of the very few that has reviews that can be trusted..

I agree in general.  I think EGM does have pretty decent and relatively unbiased reviews.  EGM is harsh on everyone, but I would rather them be too harsh than too lax.  My big problem with their reviews is they often are too short and don't give me enough information on their choice of score.

1up and EGM can both go away as far as I'm concerned. I used to get EGM but stopped when the editors were dancing on Nintendo's presumed grave back in 2004 (because you know the DS was a kiddie gimmick that would be crushed by Sony's gift to handhelds ending Nintendo). Their insistence that the Revolution would likewise be crushed just showed me how out of tune with the gaming world they've become. 1up is well, no better.

However, after reading Gamepro's joke of a "review" for Madden 08 on the Wii I have discovered there are worse sites out there than 1up.

Have any links to their doom and gloom Nintendo predictions? I don't remember that :/

Neither do I, but I figured I was an unbiased source.  1UP podcasts do contain a lot of negative rants about lack of Wii games, so I figure most of this forum won't like them anyway.

They also can be quite negative about the other consoles. I agree they are "hardcore" gamers and tend to like "hardcore" games, but that's different than disliking the Wii, and I've certainly found their reviews to be generally fair.

I won't miss 1UP, I always tought it was a spam site because they keep posting content neutral posts on weblogs that end op 1UP.COM. And to be fair i don't like the site, it's more like they try to make something spectacular out of nothing time after time. It's gone a bit the sad way like PS3fanboy, witch is now just as fun to read as Sony PR. (they actually even cut the bad news parts)

Once you start doing that, you're doing it wrong.
