Forums - Microsoft - Lost Odyssey Disc 4 read issues

Ok, believe it or not, there are tons of people with this issue. I googled it and there seems to be an issue with the paper sleeve leaving a residue. Way to go Microsoft...

The solution is even more ridiculous: put the disc into boiling water! And the funny part: it works. It's installing onto the HDD now, lol.

Anyway Montana: I'm afraid I'll ignore your tip, but I'll let you know if you are right.

Probably just disolves the residue.  Glad to see you got it working.

I suggest you not play the 4th disc unless you want to start hating the game. I absolutely loved Lost Odyssey until the 4th disc.

Why? I missed something or what?

In my opinion, the pacing completely fell apart by the 4th disc. Character development halted for the sake of shuffling your party through dungeon after dungeon, and it seemed like your characters were turned into cut-out superheroes.

Ah, I can understand what you mean about the last dungeons and the cut-out superheroes part, but when you think about it, isn't very different from the last discs/parts of any Final Fantasy game, or just JRPGs in general.

Developers always seem to rush the last disc/part of their game with anything they can, especially with extra sidequests (dungeons), and the final hours are always "special" ("OK, we save the world now, or we all die trying!").

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

lol I'm btw. at the beginning of disc 4 as well.
I only played 5 minutes and then turned it off. (Not because the 4th disc is bad, but I played the last 3 discs within 3 days and I wanted to take a break)

Curious, what type of packaging does the game come in. Here in Australia, its a nice 4 disc dvd style case. No paper sleeves at all.

The disc is clean and has no scratches (I bought it new, and I just took it out of the (crappy) paper sleeve.

Next time, I'll know not to beleive you. You said it was clean :)

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.
