It's a matter of whether Microsoft paid well enough for SE's games or not.

I doubt they "paid" for the game so much as aided the company with development/translation/advertising. Personally would you want Microsoft or Sony to do an epic ad campain for you? I think Final Fantasy XIII would sell asstons better on the 360 if Microsoft pulled a Halo 3 epic ad campain for the game.

I Agree on the halo 3 epic ad campaign, Microsoft sure do know how to put there ads together but i dont think its the reason why they put there rpgs on the 360 its alot deeper than most people think

think bout this ps2.... has been a great great system to have there jrpgs on selling 1mill on there big titles high ad campaign or not..but now they are putting there games and trust in a system that is not well recieved over seas....if its over seas sales they looking at they need to look twice

Overseas for Square-Enix is NA/EU, where the 360 is doing considerably better than the PS3.

These are the mistakes (see the scores) Square has made:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/lastremnant

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/infiniteundiscovery

The underlying assumption that good Square JRPGs do not sell well on the 360 is clouded by the fact that no blockbuster Square JRPG has been released on the 360.

As examples of a good JRPGs performance on the 360 I'd look to Lost Odyssey or Tales as a guide.

Currently waiting on : killzone 2 and everything else after it..day one purchase baby

Yeah, its not really fair for a terrible Square enix published game that doesn't sell multi millions as a reason to fault the 360. People don't wanna waste $60 for a bad game. Both games were critical failures unlike FF viii or FF X

also take into consideration that fatsuma (or whateva its spelled liked) gave White knight a 29/40 and both last remnant and ID got both high scores

square should be doing RPGs for the PS3, the PS3 has a big prescence in the three markets while the 360 is really weak in japan, they should also be doing a couple of games(good games not that dragon quest swords stuff) for the wii since its the leading console

I honestly do believe that MS paid for FFXIII.

As far as the 360 being the go to console for Square RPGs, someone above me made the excellent point that Square is trying to reach into the West. This is one of the reasons for the 360 being their platform right now IMO.

@perpride

what are talking about, if you really want to reach into the west it should be multi-platform and exclusive or timed is just a stupid move because you're going to make less money and it will reach less people.

You do realize that hd games cost a rediculous amount to make right especially a game that had been in development for as long as ff13.

Square knew that the ps3 install base alone arent enough to get a healthy profit out of the game so the only logical thing to do was make it multiplatform.

FFvs13 on the other hand was probably paid by from sony because that game has no reason to stay exclusive.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

Exactly.

It's obvious that SE is getting some nice deals from Microsoft. We can't really know whether all these 360 RPGs are good for the company or not without knowing the details of these deals.

SE's bottom line is still looking black, so they must be doing well enough.
