In the PS3's defense, September 2007 to September 2008 belonged to the PS3. Outsold 360 by like 2 million in that time frame, if I'm not mistaken

I looked it up, you are right, PS3 sold more. By 1 million if you go by VGChartz.

And for a week or two, the X360 beat the Wii when Halo 3 came out. Does that mean the X360 is outselling the Wii now? NO.
The PS3 and X360 are very close, sales wise, to eachother (till September, of course). Because of being in such a deadlock, both consoles will have better and worse weeks. But what you must consider are the trends - and the trends show that, until the PS3 drops the price by a significant amount, the 360 will run roughshod over the PS3. The longer that takes, the bigger the gap. The bigger the gap, the less likely the PS3 will overtake the 360 at any given time.
If Sony does not cut the price by $100 within the next 6 months, there's no reasonable way to assume the PS3 will beat the 360 in it's lifetime.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Exactly... and I don't think Sony will be cutting the price in the first half of the year unless it's a partial cut, but that wont really be as effective as a pre-holiday 100 dollar price cut not to mention cutting it that much early on will hut their bottom line even more that it already is. The gap is likely to widen, but Sony will do well regardless... They'll easily surpass the Xbox 1 number and probably the N64 by the middle to lat 10. But the longer it take the less mind share they have and in the end it's mind share that they should be after... marketshare will come with that.
