Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo fans calling for the downfall of hardcore gaming, why?

You should add "some" because there're not every Ninty fanboy say that ,it must be your imagination to think that all Nintendo fanboy said so.

Btw ,I suggest to stop using hardcore and replaced it with experienced gamer would be better.

I think your problem starts with the topic title.

I hope hardcore gaming doesn't die so I can get more Peggle in the following decade

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I always love comments from people having no professional stake in the gaming industry, that read something like "3rd party developers are stupid". Its like raising a flag over your head that proclaims "I iz Jenious!"

Jeniouses should get together and start a game development studio. The results would be... astounding.

@ OP link or it didn't happen.

Alot of Wii owners are predicting the death of style over substance in hardcore games, but that is completely different to predicting the downfall of hardcore gaming

If the management of third party publishers is so great why are so many of them matching record revenues with record losses?

Why (after they have demonstrated a weak understanding of the market by ignoring two of the fastest selling consoles of all time) would you accept that they know what the userbases of the Wii and DS want when they are unwilling to listen to the existing fanbase?

Yeah... I haven't seen this -- Nintendo fans calling for the death of hardcore gaming, or even suggesting that it's happening -- that I can remember.

Nintendo fans say a lot of controversial* things, like: "the market is expanding," or "casual vs. hardcore is a false dichotomy," or "different people have different tastes, which are equally valid," or "girls & old folks should be allowed to game, too." But saying that the traditional core games like FPS's, RPGs, Adventure games, etc., are or should be dying? No. They don't say that.

Instead, this just seems like another Trojan-horse argument for the OP to get the opportunity to bash the things he doesn't like. Re: casual games, "[t]hey have no depth, no point beyond a few minutes of fun with your friends and family."

I've noticed this before. PS360 fans taking the kinds of lame arguments *they* usually make to bash the Wii, putting those same arguments into the mouths of Wii supporters, and then using it as a way to "subtly" attack while supposedly defending themselves. It'd be neat, if it wasn't so obvious.

*Controversial, that is, to some PS360 fanboys.

Exactly.  I really don't understand all the hate for these new types of games that you may not personally enjoy.

I mean, to use a movie comparison, no one minds that High School Musical or The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants exists, as long as they get their Terminator Salvations, Dark Knights, and I Am Legends.  But when a HSM video game appears, it's like the apocalypse.

Actually I do mind that High School Musical exists.

*facepalm*

But do you think that it's destroyed 'teh hardcore' movie market?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Everything I don't like should not exist.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
