I think the Americas markets can be roughly split up as follows:

USA - 85%

Canada - 6%

Mexico - 4%

South America ~3%

Rest of Central America - ~2%

If thats the case PS2 is something like 42.5m/3m/2m/1.5m/1m by market/region

wow !...ummm....i wouldnt even bother........

*sigh*

abit undertracked. but okay.

go ps2. =) total domination system.

Remember, Sony's press release is units shipped, VGC numbers are units sold at retail.

Thank you. And going by that, I think we've overtracked it a little bit.

I don't know about that... they do quote USA NPD so it may be sell through. 43million ps2 through november. would december plus  fcanada account for 7 million? I would like to think yes.

Not a chance. The Canadian video game market is about 10% the size of the US market. Canada + USA + Mexico, perhaps.

For the Ps2 I'd put it higher than 10%... we do give the wii 14% which would put it at about 49 million. You dont think the ps2 could sell 1 million in december with canada and usa?

Very impressive. Love how it sells so well when you look at how long it's been around.

Yes the 50 million figure is not Sony's shipped figure I am sure, at least not unless it's the REAL shipped figure (ie not using "production shipments" for before March 2007)

I would have to see the supposed press release that was quoted (there is no link in the OP, and it's not on Sony's press release list on Sony.net)... it could be that they are using NPD USA + NPD Canada + Mexico figures.
