I know the feeling. People are always bitching on COD games when anyone uses the Juggernaut perk. It's there for a reason people. If you want to even the score then use the damn perk yourself!

Maybe if it was available for everyone.....

If that's what I was talking about, it would have had nothing to do with the topic. The people complaining are the long running players that find the perk to be cheating. They have it available to them also but choose to not use it and bitch when other people do. Also Juggernaut is available to all players since it's a beginning perk. You would have known that if your ladder wasn't so far up your theory.

I'd like to think that my theory is just on the wrong ladder....

Maybe you would have heard your theory more clearly had you not been out intellectually whoring yourself out.

It wasn't so much the whoring as it was the falling into the void during the jump....

Luckily, just like in Donkey Kong, you can always climb back up the Friends ladder.

Are you kidding me?! Those ladders in Donkey Kong were definetly of the... ummm... Special Friends... ladders.

Age of Empires 3 had this problem. Often when a particular race or strategy was overpowered it just didn't make for a fun game. You had some pretty average players beating some excellent players just from using a particular civilization.

Same with Age of Empires II (actually all games are unbalanced in one way or other).

I agree - I feel that using the most effective strategy (usually the overpowered one) is often kinda cheap and lame. So basically I disagree with the other guys in this thread. I don't think saying "it's there for a reason" is accurate, because often games simply ARE imbalanced (because a perfect balanced RTS is extremely hard to design, so I don't automatically blame the devs).

I'm one of those people who often oppose of people using rush tactics. I'm perfectly fine with rushing in maps that are designed for rushing as a viable strategy to make the map fun, but there are maps where it's obvious that the designer - or the players - intended the map to be played with other strategies. In those cases when people still uses the rush I think it's cheap, and I whine.

In all RTS games I've ever played rushing is always an overpowered stragey and that kinda pisses me off. And since rushing also happens to be the strategy that demands the highest skill, you get a devastating double effect:

the skilled players are using the overpowered strat.

Just again tonight I was playing again. I was playing support again, which was my 4 time playing support, and I thought I did a very good job destroying air, though I didn't really manage to keep any repair tanks around for repair. When I mentioned that this was my 4th time, a couple of players said I did a good job but another one called me useless. Since it was time to leave anyway, I told the guy to support himself and left.

I think I would be very good at support, but realize that no matter how good I do there will be some armor player complaining that I am not doing well enough.

@Slimebeast: Actually rushing is very risky tactic. It leaves your base very vulnerable and usually slows down your progress. Why the skilled players use it (experienced would be the better word here), is because them knowing that most people won't be taking you down after the rush.
As a general rule, if someone rushes, take the guy down ASAP. Even if you don't take the guy down, you likely are going to cause "massive damage".

No... Just no. Rushing is NOT overpowered. It''s only overpowered if you don't know how to counter it. There is no spcial cc maps at all. As bdbdbd said, if you counter a rush, then you have a huge upper hand. I bet you those same experienced players won't go down by a simple rush themselves.

what I also think that is stupid is the NO-GL thing in COD4... there are some servers that have so many NO's that it's very stupid, it's almost like Allied Assault and the rifle-only servers

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I just dislike exploiters, cheaters, and team stackers (where applicable). The worst is when an entire clan will occupies one team on a server. From my experience, it makes for unbalanced and frustrating gameplay when one team is full of skilled, organized players, while the other team is randomly comprised of whoever happens to join. It can work, but most of the time you don't have sufficent time to coordinate anything, or you have a teammate or two who are effectively useless. Everything else is pretty much fair game.
