No Johann is right O.o this is going to sound noobish but whats wrong with the remakes

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Lack of Mode 7 graphics may not be a huge gripe to you, but the load times in the games are so horrendous that they really hurt the flow of the game. The encounter rate in those games is higher than in later games and in the PSX remakes the load times for fights are just as large as in VII, VIII, and IX. It very seriously hurts how the game plays.

If you have access to a DS or a GBA, get the DS remake of IV - I'd wait on remakes for V and VI, but if you can't then get the GBA ports.

Actually this is one of the few cases where you could hypothetically justify playing a Final Fantasy on an emulator. Playing the ports in Chronicles and Anthology would drive me to distraction.

Well, the most common things cited are horrible load times and sluggish gameplay. Which, if you ask me, is a real shame, since they are, to me, easily the best games in the FF franchise.

As for the OP, yes, you're not the only one doing that. I used to be that way with Square (referencing before the S-E merger) titles, until I felt the gameplay degenerated. Then I looked toward Enix titles. After that buyout, I found Atlus. Truthfully, I really hope I don't have to find another company to get my my RPGs from...

So I shouldn't play the PS1 remakes?
Maybe that's why I didn't like 6.

I had the same exact experience after I played that game. I was going to buy 1 &2 on the psp first then it broke so i just said to hell with it.

That's pretty much the only acceptable justification, yes.

you bought DoC? My sympathy...

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Ah, so you're one of those huh?

Oh yeah you dont want the PSX remakes, they are crap. If you are going to get remakes get them on the PSP or DS. The best version of IV by far is the one on the DS. I'm hoping the remake VI on the DS as well.

That happened to me during Final Fantasy 1 with Square.

It ended with Final Fantasy 7 being such a hige disapointment however.

Not all at once though.  Just as soon as they came out.

Square, Enix were both golden for a while...

Then Square went down hill...

bought out Quest... ruined them...

bought out a coupe other small companies too i liked...

then dragged down enix after the merger.
