Hmm, This more worrisome for PS3 than Wii.

According to most sony fans on this site, Wii's library sucks and has no good "non nintendo games" Yet "non nintendo" millions sellers top PS3's total million sellers, even with PS3's so called superior line up, it still struggles to sell games, could we see a drop in PS3 support in the future since games aren't selling too well?

This is to be expected, 3rd parties have refused to support Wii up until recently, and now that considerable support is, finally, coming, the number of million sellers should increase at a faster rate than PS3's. The huge userbase also makes it easier to sell a game on Wii.

From about November last year to now, 7 new games has come up to one million or more for Wii with The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return being close and 2-4 more games will also soon sell a million or more on Wii. After that, more games will reach a million on Wii.

I haven't seen this trend on PS3 Christmas sales and I don't believe I will see now either.

7 games on a short time and more to come is strong, Wii will more then double the list of million seller compared to PS3.

First of all, diversity has nothing to do with the name of the franchises... there is no way anyone can say Wii Sports, Fit, Play, Music and Mario Kart Wii are alike.
Simiarly, Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party and Mario and Sonic are not alike (Party and M&S being the closest match)

Wheras the PS3 list is kind of diverse, but a number of games are more identical to each other than in the Wii list (2 Fifa games, 2 PES, 2 CoD) and some may have different characters, but are otherwise still quite similar.

Regarding you prediction... it is mere happenstance that the PS3 has currently got more than half the millionsellers the Wii has, partly the timing of certain games, partly it bein Christmas when big games sell well (Wii games sell throughout the year) partly because VGC is not totally accurate in terms of total software figures.

Up till September 2008 we have shipment data for both consoles software, the Wii had shipped just short of 230 million software units, and the PS3 just over 115 million..... this trend of Wii = PS3 X2 has continued since launch, and is showing no signs of stopping.

Add in the fact that, contrary to what I thought before, the Wii is actually missing more software data in "others" than the PS3.

Of 355 games (admitedly some will be unreleased or mistakes, but the same holds true for PS3) only 96 have others Wii data

while PS3 has 101 games with data out of 242

I missed the part of this thread where it started to make sense for you to come up with that conclusion.

But er... I uh... disagree.

If you break down the sales into smaller sets and include more games you can get a bigger picture of what is happening ...

For example look at sales above 10 Million, sales between 5 and 10 Million, sales between 2 and 5 Million, sales between 1 and 2 Million, sales between 500,000 and 1 Million, sales between 250,000 and 500,000, and sales between 125,000 and 250,000 ... What you will notice is that the Wii will win in every category and the gap between the systems will be the largest in the highest sales categories, and as you get into the lower sales categories they have similar numbers.

The reason for this is simple, while total software sales for the Wii are much higher than the PS3 the number of games that are particularly good is smaller which results in a handful of games getting the lionshare of sales. As time goes on, and the Wii gets more "acceptable" games, the sales will distribute more and the number of games selling at every level will increase.

 I can't think that far in the future. ha ha.

There *are* good game, for the Wii. They are few and far between, and they aren't million sellers. Carnival Games XXI will be an instant million seller. Anything else is just a maybe.
