Regardless of the genre, the west gravitates to online games.

And obviously RPGs are popular to PS3 owners as WKC has already outsold every other single one in Japan  in two weeks except one DQ title on the Wii.

But WKC reaching a million is absolutely contingent upon doing around 600,000 in the west. In the west, there is no proof that JRPGs sell well on the PS3, so it's not a sure thing.

yea name some JRPG's that have sold 600,000 in the west that don't have Dragonquest, Final Fantasy, or Tales in the title.

I know Dragonquest aren't huge in the west, or tales games but I couldn't think of any other franchises besides FF games.

I only see SO4 reaching a million, because it will be a good JRPG this gen. Which there hasn't been a plethora of RPGs to tout about, at least not in NA.

Star Ocean series has never been a huge seller. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time hit 1.29mil and the PS2 RPG user base was gigantic, if that tells you anything.

The previous Star Ocean: Second Story, hit only 720K sales.



  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

Anybody that thinks White Knight Chronicles isn't going to pass 1 million in the west is smoking something funky. If you look at the history of rpgs across both Playstation I and II, a million is probably less than average numbers for jrpgs on Playstation consoles, and the PS3 audience is composed of people that were looking forward to Final Fantasies and Kingdom Hearts unlike the 360's audience which is primarily composed of people that were looking forward to Halo and Gears

 kingdom hearts? (I dont know why you are disqualifing tales in this discussion it isnt hat big of a franchise in the west)
