Forums - Microsoft - HALO 3:ODST will meet its toughest competition

I think price may help put the ODST out over COD in numbers. If the title ships at $30-40 price range it has may have an advantage in comparison to a $59 shipped title, perhaps (IMO). We shall see.........

I don't think it will be a problem since this is the ShooterBox~! we're talking about. ODST's toughest hurdle might be the fact that it's not a multiplayer focused game.

Why not ? It has a multiplayer mode and features the new Halo 3 mappack.

I think Halo is "dead" until the real Halo4

end.

(the add-on and the RTS will be non-event)

Time to Work !

Halo is much bigger than COD, and can we stop comparing a multiplat numbers to a game released in one console.

I think it's a pretty attractive package, but if somebody is mainly into the multiplayer, they might be inclined to just buy the maps off Live. I do think that budget price + maps + awesome campaign + co-op + HALOZ will make this a huge seller, though.

Then can people start saying Halo is only bigger on the one console it's on?

"This is the deep-dish, delicious irony endured by the Nintendo stalwart: to see their platform of choice ascendant, even as their bright God turns his face away."

Tycho Brahe

COD4 has sold 11 million copies on 47 million consoles.
Halo 3 has sold 9 million copies on 27 million consoles.

=\

Back on topic, I would imagine a lot of the sales will depend on how well M$ decides to promote the New Halo ODST. If they have another advertisement campaign like the original Halo3 then all bets are off. It will do tons of sales if they do.

I can't believe how many people are comparing multiplat sales to Halo3 sales... and then acting superior to people who question them. Halo 3 is bigger on the 360, and its competition is ON THE 360.

Because numbers are solid, you can say well Halo 3 would have sold more if it was on other systems but there is no maybe-would-somehow-some chance or any other excuse here.

COD sold ~11 million, Halo 3 sold ~9million. Thus, COD sold more then Halo 3, that is how it is, that is reality, that is the numbers, COD gave more sale revenue to their developers, and 11 is a higher number than 9 just to make sure everyone knows.

I think Halo ODST will come in Q3, why go up against COD if they don't have to. Also COD high sales will help xbox anyway since most sell there.
