A few things.Why is everybody getting so emotional? Does it matter really that much that crysis is being compared to kz2. I am just going to base my opinions on gameplay. Furthermore @ fishie, while the physics in crysis are great you do realise that is being rendered frame by frame as it runs at less than 2 fps in real time? Just wanted you to know...

 

 

 

Strange, considering it manages to run at 30fps+ at 1080p on my LAPTOP.

 

Something K2 doesnt even achieve at 720p on PS3 I might add.

Far Cry 2 has some of the most hideous graphics this gen. Have you seen those textures? Shameful. Looks almost as bad as Bad Company.

Not even 2 FPS in real time.  0.2 FPS in some parts according to the video.  Meaning that it takes 5 seconds to render a single frame.  Very bad example of how Crysis phsyics are "better" than Killzone 2's.  I'm sure Killzone 2 could just add a ton of physics objects (even if they have to use the HDD to cache things from which would slow things down even further) and get shitty framerates and show it off to demonstrate the "power" of their engine.

Anyways, IMO, Killzone 2 looks like the best console game to date, but not as good as Crysis.  Beats out Gears of War 2/Far Cry 2/MGS4/Uncharted handily IMO.  The particle system and lighting look especially nice.

Graphics wise, Crysis still owns every game this gen.

As for physics and animation, it can't touch a lot of the newer games. But that is obvious, since newer games to date have been able to improve beyond just graphics.



  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

Their are other games coming in 2009 which impress me more graphics wise. To be honest the new CES 2009 videos just dont seem as impressive. I dont think it's that much better graphically than MGS4 or Gears 2. But the animation is top class.

Seriously my comment was objective. yours is not. I'm not worried about upsetting a few blinded fanboys. Heavy Rain, Alan Wake and Kingdom Under Fire 2 all to me look more impressive. On a technical note and what the console is having to do, I also think RFG is the winner in 2009.

 

I am very much looking forward to Heavy Rain and Kingdom Under Fire, but I've yet to see gameplay videos on the scale of the ones released for KZ2 that make me think they'll look better than it... where can I find them?

 

To answer your question. Here is the 2. Both videos state they are gameplay footage. No CGI and no tricks.

Isn't that an RTS series?

Just asking because I noticed it being advertised on Steam a whie back and was thinking about looking into it.

 

Ya, Steam only has part of the series though. Its missing the first two. It is still an amazing series.

Graphics are a package. Killzone 2 has better graphics than Crysis. Picture for picture Killzone 2 gets owned by Crysis, but in motion Killzone easly surpasses Crysis. Animation, Physics, partical effects, textures, polygons ect. are all part of graphics. To try and seperate them and say one game wins because it is better at this part is a stupid argument.

So to sum it up, Killzone 2 = Crysis, but I would rather play Killzone, and look at pics of Crysis.
