White Knight sets benchmark for 2nd week sales

The PS3 exclusive White Knight Chronicles has now set a benchmark for 2nd week sales.  After selling more than 200,000 in it's first week, the title continues to sell, according to the latest Famitsu numbers.  Though it slipped from 1st to 6th overall in the rankings in it's second week, White Knight still sold 74,000 copies, which sets the record for best 2nd week of sales.  It beat out Metal Gear Solid 4 and Devil May Cry 4, which went from 480,000 to 64,000 and 212,000 to 34,000, respectively.

The Japanese New Year is one of the most celebrated holidays in Japan, which may have contributed to the sales.

White Knight Chronicles is an action RPG developed by Level-5.  The PS3 exclusive has been confirmed for a US release, though the date has yet to be finalized.

would be awesome if it ended up like mgs4, 600k in japan. im sure the game will have better legs in NA (and europe once its announced) it will probably settle somewhere in the 400k region which is still good for this gen.

well, its second week was the 2nd or 3rd larget week of the year sales wise with the holiday boost, and it did launch on CMAS, this week is the true test of any legs.

if it can do 40k this week I will be impressed.



End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I predict anywhere from 25-45k next week. This week's sales will be a big test to see if crumbles and sells 350k or rises and sells 450-500k.

After LBP sales being awsome at 500K after 2 weeks, now WKC sets records at 280K!!
one might think million sellers are good, but NOOO for the PS3 fanboys, the uber awsomeness is selling 280K in 2 weeks in the land that eats RPGs for breakfast.
So, which game will be the first to sell 0 copies in the first two weeks and set the new record?



Please more stats on 2 weeks periods, there is so much data to extract from those....and I request graphs to go with these stories! their should have been one for week one sales too when all the threads came out!

Who cares? it outsold every 360 JRPG in Japan now. Hopefully it can 2:1 them.
