^dragon quest X says hi

Yeah, it is about time SMG hits a million in Japan! It doesn't seem to have much juice left over there, but I am happy nonetheless. Hopefully, it'll hit 10 million by the end of the year.

Dragon Quest X in the near future?? I don't expect it until Chritsmas 2010 and only for Japan.

Probably a few things. For one the GBA's life cycle was cut short by the DS due to Nintendo's need to respond to Sony entering the handheld market. It had really only three years on the market. 

Secondly, there was that big falling out with Nintendo and Square, from which Nintendo would not give Square a GBA license until later on. So not having those Square RPGs probably didn't help.

Third the GBA had lots of SNES ports rather than original content. The original Game Boy had original Super Mario Land games for instance, the DS has New Super Mario Bros ... the GBA only got ports of old Mario games. And they were straight ports of the SNES (not like the enhanced ports the DS gets of old Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest games for instance). 

Hard for a straight port to become a million seller.

And 4 between 0.8M and 0.9M

Still, it is much less than the GB.

The main reason for this is:

 The GB went on for ages. It was the main handheld for over 10 years. The GBA had a mere 5, or perhaps even less really.

True. Though if Square-Enix follows the same trend as the DQ games on the DS, expect a DQVII remake on the Wii before DQX.

About time! This is one game I had expected would sell more.

A Mario 3D game is now not so popular in Japan, so 1M mark is amazing.
