guys they misquoted. i just called sony's pr department in the usa. he said playing online. his speech was about the psn. what would sold copies have anything to do about the psn since it isnt sold on the ps store like warhawk and socom. 1.3m users online. end of story. vgc did not overtrack.

Let me get the number.

He does have such contacts through his work with VGChartz.

However, he does occasionally use said contacts as "proof" for false claims.

Or the time his "contacts" told him the bronze PSP was made of real bronze.

That was a good one.

Still, i believe him.

Of course the real question is... does the US PR guy even know?

Usually the PR guys are clueless that aren't from the same branch.

Or how about that time that his wal-mart had a price drop on wiis during the holidays and they couldn't sell a single one of them (both parts are equally unbelievable).

This thread is crazy enough without your blatant trolling.

Johnsobas way to take Gamespot out of context

9:45] Hirai takes the stage, cheery as ever.

[9:46] "Play. Listen. Watch. Communicate. Create. Share. These are the experiences consumers want, and this is what they want on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable."

[9:47] SCEA's big push is networked content and services in the form of the PlayStation Network. 17 million accounts on the network, with 330 million pieces of content downloaded.

[9:47] 2.1 million PSN accounts added in the last month alone.

[9:47] Enter the Sackboy!

[9:48] Hirai talks up Little Big Planet, which has sold 1.3 million units worldwide.

[9:48] Some 300,000 levels have been created, with a total playing time of two years.

[9:48] "This experience is possible only on the PlayStation 3."

[9:49] Hirai now talks about Sony Online Entrainment and its new free-to-play title, Free Realms, for "tweens, teens, and families."

[9:49] Beta sign-ups are now open on the PC, with a PS3 version to follow.

[9:50] Sony video delivery service is next on the docket. Hirai makes much of the fact that videos downloaded on the service are both portable and viewable on full-sized TVs.

[9:50] MTV is now partnering to put its video content on PSN.

All of this mentions PSN...

Beat me to it :P

Can't really tell which side is right, though without actual proof this argument is pretty much pointless.

Hi, and welcome to the internet. While visiting you will find tons of pornography, and pointless debates between 35 year old fat balding mean pretending to be 15 year old girls. I hope you enjoy your time here. Be sure to come back soon.

IGN still says playing, and GS said playing.

There's no reason to lie about that.

I just don't understand when Gamestop > IGN in terms of belief.

Do you remember Kane + Lynch? Jeff Gerstmann? Did you guys already forget? For shame.

IGN doesn't disprove gamespot, it is just vague wording.  Gamespot clearly says sold.

That's actually my point.

Why would all these websites quote Gamespot over IGN?

So... either they didn't and had their own people there... or had a reason to believe gamespot over IGN.
