Forums - Microsoft - Left 4 Dead is my No1 so far this Generation

Theirs no other co-up game like it out there... Its a team game but not like other team games, in other team games like CS, CoD you only reall think of your self but In L4D you must stick together to survive an help each other for your own good. e.g. if one of your team mates has only 10 health left and your the only one who has the med pack, its in your own interest to heal him, if he dies their a good chance you and your team will also die. And theirs no being a Rambo, if you run off on your ownsome, you will died. I got it for the PC and rented it for the xbox 360 and I must say yo gotta play it online to get best experience as Single Player is kinda boring, One of the best game I ever played. I just hope it comes out fo the PS3 as well so Ps3 owners can play is true masterpiece.

PC gaming rules.....

you haven't played many games this gen then have you? if L4D is your favourite. I hate that game, its an average FPS, does nothing that hasn't been done in other games. Graphics are nothing special, single player is short.

You could make an arguement for the online, but thats about it

I don't care for your poor view on the subject. You seem like a very biased poster ....

i haven't bought this game yet, but my coworkers are 50/50 on how necessary it is to get.

one guy, who isn't great at fps, loves it while the fps vet likes cod much better.

vet thinks that there isn't enough weapon variety and, perhaps this is actually a good thing, there is almost no way to distinguish someone who's played a lot vs someone who's new. he says that the only skill you need is to spraying the oncoming zombies wave after wave.

It is about killing zombies, they won't have a organized/cover AI system like if you were fighting specialized trained soldiers (though some of the special zombies do run away for cover, jump around). Also they have almost no long range stuff, they are zombies so yea, you don't need much skill to kill the zombies. The skill comes from working together, a few zombie hits does knock you down so you need your team to help you.

I find the versus mode to be very weak, the switching between survivors and infected looks like a bad choice to me. Should be survivors vs infected throughout the whole stage, not revisit stages by going back and forth to other sides. I love the campaign however, with few more maps the game can really be played for months and months but as it is now you may get tired of it after one month.

Also the game is strictly an online game, single player shouldn't even be counted. Each map is like its' own world, you get saved in each map so the game really ends there, they were going to connect all the maps and explain why you are on the next map and not saved but they scrapped that idea- just an online game.

It's not really Survivors vs. Infected though, it's Survivors vs. Survivors according to the scoring system at least. So each team gets a crack at being the Survivors and Infected for each section of the campaign then the score is tallied then on to the next section. Right?

Yes, that is right. That helps the widespread plan most people do and can accomplish pretty easily- just rush through to the next safe point.

The melee attack is so good, you can rush through with 4 people in versus with ease. The infected have respawn times of around 25 seconds. 25 seconds is ample time for the survivors to go a great distance without any special zombie. They will rush to make sure they get a good score and people are usually easy to figure out.

In campaign it is more free to exploration and people taking their time and play. Also special zombies can be anywhere. I like playing as an infected but playing the whole map going back and forth just annoys me, should just stay as an infected or survivor from beginning to end, it will flow much easier.

I don't mind the back and forth shit but I can't stand the respawn time. It seems as if the Survivors do have the advantage to begin with so the respawns should be a little quicker. Or maybe I shouldn't suck as much as an Infected. Or maybe I could set my preference to the TANK, lol.

What i have played of the game has been very addicting, but the only flaw i can see in the game is the levels themselves. Randomly generated zombies are awesome you never no what's around the next corner. There also a nice selection of weapons to chose from so no problems there. Now last but not least the levels the only thing i wish value would have changed. I wish the lvl would go away and there was just a open world(GTA comes to mine even spiderman games have a open worlds) to run around in. Just my opinion, but it would have given good practice for the real zombie apocalypse.

It's a very good game.  Once the modders hit it... oooh lord.  Though i guess that's more PC version.

I'd say it has the best storytelling a videogame has had this generation.

Which may seem odd to a lot of people... but the reason it does is....

It tells a story like a game. Rather then pretending to be a movie or TV show or something.

It uses all of it's assets all the time.

We wouldn't say a movie tells a good story if every 10-15 minutes, stuff stopped happening and you got a bunch of dialogue to explain what has happened between actual movie segments.
