The Global president of 2K has revealed that BioShock has the potential to emulate the longevity of the Star Wars series and could even have FIVE sequels!

Global President of 2K Christoph Hartmann has told MCV that Bioshock has the potential to emulate the Star Wars series – and that the publisher might even create five sequels to the 2007 smash hit.

However, Hartman was careful to promise fans that 2K won’t “cash in” on the title.

In an exclusive interview, Hartmann said:

“Some of the mega-franchises we talk about only lasted ten years because companies took five years to ship a game. Look at Duke Nukem. It’s been a great franchise for 20 years, because it seems like it’s been in development for 20 years.

Opinions? Personally I think dragging the franchise on that long would do much more harm than good.

Well, star wars was originally planned as a triple trilogy...

And it has numerous spinoffs as well (animation series and such), so if it turns out like that...

That would be horrible. Bioshock is a story not a gameplay driven franchise. The series should only exist as long as there is a meaningful story to tell.

This is also true for the MGS series but it seems games studio's just love exploiting franchises.

this can be good, if they allow kevin levine the director of the 1st one to make more. and also make more good stories, otherwise the series will go down the tubes quickly.
