I'll go by the history behind the developers:

Monolith- Blood, Tron 2.0, NOLF series, FEAR 1, Condemned, and the best for last, AVP2

GG- Shellshock: Nam '67, Killzone 1, and.......... GG indeed....

I mean seriously.... why don't we just pit Blizzard vs. Flasgship Studios here?

LOL. Well played indeed...Dont forget Killzone Liberation on PSP for GG. You got to wonder, with 2 mediocre killzone games already made, why is Sony pushing this franchise still.

I am not one to try to persuade others to get a game but Id be getting FEAR 2 even if I had only a PS3. Killzone 2 id wait for reviews as GG is quite an unproven dev studio. Blowing 60 million on a game doesnt make it good.

FEAR 2 will no doubt be awesome...

Killzone Liberation is way better than Killzone 1, but I don't think you have played either....

As far as Killzone 2 goes I was in the beta and it is the best FPS I have ever played online, I do not need to wait for reviews, I'll wait for reviews for FEAR 2 though.

Ah...I dont know why i bother to reply to this...i should jsut go to sleep. But oh well...

I played both Killzone games. Killzone 1 was an ambitions FPS game that was done on the wrong system. Had it been done on a normal xbox or gamecube it may have been a little better. As is, the frame rate is waaay to choppy (especially annoying when sniping) Also, the environments try to sell you on this open world battles but the player realizes pretty fast that the whole game is on rails. The whole first level is in trenches you shooting at enemies coming at you and it doesnt get better later as you clearly have a laid out path you HAVE to follow. In any case, its an ok shooter. Gets extra points for a very cool opening sequence when the dictator dude is speaking to his troops.

Killzone liberation I just played recently actually when i was in Cuba on vacation. Its a servicable top down shooter and it is quite fun...however one must note that the scope of what its trying to accomplish is a lot simpler than Killzone on ps2. You really cant fuck up a game like that at this point and time. I personally didn't like the controller scheme in that game very much nor the fact that camera cant be moved. Otherwise that game as a good top down shooter.

The bottom line is, Killzone 2 is a ps3 exclusive, and a lot of ps3 fans are here posting that it is the be all end all of gaming. I get it, its something you can play while the rest of us cant. While it does look very good, I think we need to wait and see what reviews the game will get as GG has yet to make a AA game...let alone a AAA one.

Monolith on the other hand has proven themselves on may ocasions. I am getting FEAR 2 for PC day 1. Maybe the 360 version as well if freinds pick it up...

Do you usually call games that are fun mediocre?

@FilaBrasileiro

Not usually. However neither killzone games released thus far justify the hype Killzone 2 is getting.

Here's the real answer.

F.E.A.R. managed to become one of the most interesting, and best FPS' early on in the Xbox 360's library, where it maintains that rank to this day. Its campaign easily beats Halo 3's and stands undisputed where FPS is concerned on HD consoles, discounting the king of kings, TOB, which doesn't deserve mentioning(It's far beyond everything, including this conversation). Of course this is just my opinion but hell....it is MY opinion, so that's all that needs saying. Most of you have never even played the game, which makes my opinion even more valid, but now I'm just gloating.

Killzone 1 was a mediocre romp through a Halo emulation. Again, most of you have never actually played the game....mostly because of reviews, but I digress.

Now, Killzone 2 is obviously at least a little overhyped. All exclusives are. F.E.A.R. 2, however, has managed to squeeze itself under the radar for the most part. Which game will be better, we have no clue.

However, one thing is very probable.

F.E.A.R. 2, in all likelyhood, will exceed your modest expectations.

Killzone 2 couldn't live up to them in a million years.

So F.E.A.R. 2 has something going for it, at least.....besides the fact that F.E.A.R. is one of the best games this generation.

slap

i'll probably get both, but i never played through the expansion of the original fear so i gotta do that first. So for now i'll probably just grab kz2 and then wait a little with t3h ph34r

Check out my game about moles ^

FEAR2....... sorry, I am getting KZ2 for sure.

F.E.A.R. 2
Monolith has a strong resume.

So you do call a game mediocre even though it is fun. I see the logic.

"[TimeGate] took the story in a direction that we didn't intend," he added. "We look at Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate as an alternate universe, a 'what could have been', and because of that it doesn't necessarily diminish the story that we were trying to tell. F.E.A.R. was about Alma, F.E.A.R. 2 is about Alma, and we wanted to continue the story the way we originally intended."

So I don't think you need to worry about playing the expansions. Seems like they're pretty much ignoring them.

The best shooters are on the PC.

F.E.A.R scored review scores in the low 90's.
Kill Zone on PS2 scored average review scores in the low 70's.

I expect Kill Zone 2 and FEAR 2 will both have average review scores in the mid 80's. Far Cry 2 last year received average review scores in the mid 80's. I expect Kill Zone 2 and FEAR 2 will be close to Far Cry 2's scores.

In regards to buying these games I will pass on them.

F.E.A.R. 2 should be a step down from F.E.A.R.

Kill Zone 2 will be a huge improvement upon the mediocre original Kill Zone on PS2. Even if Kill Zone 2 scored low 90's and became AAA title I still would not buy it because a PS3 is not worth buying just for a few exclusive games.

@disolitude

So you mean you will be getting FEAR2 because it is an AAA game for sure,
and KZ2 is a mediocre because you can't plat it.
