Let's suppose you are the new President of Sony Corporation and among all the problems of the Company, let's suppose that the board of shareholders give you six months to rescue the PS3. If you succeed, besides keeping your job you will get to plan, develop and launch the PS4. If you fail the PS3 will be discontinued and there won't be a PS4. The end of Sony's Gaming Division as hardware manufaturer.

I know there is plenty of people still very optimistic about the current Sony's situation. It doesn't matter if you don't think that things are not that bad, what would you do to improve Sony's economic situation in the gaming market?

For the most pessimistic, and even happy about this scenario, remember that what keeps quality in products is the competition, so maybe it isn't such a bad thing to still have three big videogaming companies. So, if you think the playstation brand is in real danger of dissapearing, what would you do to save it?

i dont think the ps brand is in danger or anything.

but if i had to make changes going forward, it wouldnt be a case of games or features, as ps3 has plenty of them.

the main issue is pricing.

i would go with a 2 tier offering.

• ps3 as it is with full backwards compatibility on all the hd size bundles. and remain at its £299 price point
• ps3 cut down, with no wireless, no backwards compat, and re-cased with power supply seperate like the 360 brick. there could also be other cost cutting on the basic model, something they can continue doing over time. price? i havent a clue but it could possibly be much lower than the £299 model i listed above.^ basicly a ps3 lite as an entry model.

I think Sony over estimating the power of the Playstation Brand, in much the same way Nintendo did with the N64... the difference is Nintendo is a smarter company.... Nintendo still made alot of money on the 64, while the PS3 is a black whole...

I honestly think it is tarnished, even look at the PSP... That was "supposed" to take the portable crown from Nintendo.... and it basically turned out to be a Decent multimedia device.

I suggest they drop the Playstation and Sony should start fresh.
The DS was a fresh start for Nintendo, Sony needs something too.

Frankly don't know about the PS3 itself, but there is a lot of unsucked money from PSN.
More classic games. PSN cards in Europe. Accepting credit/debit cards worldwide.

No idea why Sony is so reluctant to be quicker on such things. Still wondering why they closed the tap on Entropay, it's a prepaid card, what's the risk?

id create a cheap super console with super hd graphics and an even more inovative interface than the Wii's call it the PS3.5 get it built for just £100 a unit, then sell it at £200 a unit at launch, id have the best console in terms of specs, gameplay and profitability.

 and this "PS4" will be built by the "Magic Machine" that allows you to produce the highest quality good at the lowest cost... damn why did no one think of this before??

I'd pay Iran to launch a "few missiles" into MS and Ninty Headquarters. I'd then raise the price a little.
