I wonder if Ckmlb will ever post a negative news item for Sony or the PS3?

Why, others seem to do so all the time and cover any negative news anyway.

Why not get an external much easier and much cheaper than getting a PS3 HDD that you have to take out and stuff.Cheapest HDD i can find on Amazon.co.uk is £79 for.....500GB thats a very good price.

End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)

PlayStation 4: 12-15million

Xbox One: 7-10 million

Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)

You can get an external one to throw all your videos and crap on while you keep the original one open for games. However, to get an external hard drive to work, you have to format it (or a partition) to FAT32 using a program like Partition Magic otherwise, the PS3 wont recognize the hard drive.

That's what I was able to do, I took my external hard drive and formatted 80gigs of it to FAT32 and the PS3 was able to read it.

I don't see why they are downgrading games to be Core compatible. I think the Core has a place, if a game requires more then it should be clearly stated on the box so that Core people know they can't play it without an add-on.

You spend less for the core so your experience isn't as good... Its like buying a house... If you do it right, you can save lots of money but have no perks such as hardwood, cermic tile, granite counters, etc. They are all things you can add, and may want at some point to make your house nicer or add value... So, you end up either buying the add-ons or you live with what you got and admit there are limitations in easy of cleaning, scratching, etc...

The Core Xbox is much the same, you get it cheaper because you don't get the full experience out of the box... Not that you can't get the full experience. It just doesn't come out of the box that way. It is more for casual players getting into gaming, families on a lower income budget, and gamers that want NextGen but can't afford the higher price today. You can get most of the experience without the Hard Drive. Later, they can add the hard drive... It is more expensive that way, but that's the way tier, bundled pricing works. For some people it is the only way they can get in, because of their expendable dollars.

It could be a cost transfer to your kid as well. I don't know if you will play it much to justify the cost, therefore I'll buy you the Core today, but you save the other $100 and buy a hard drive.

I think too much is made of the different 360's... At least they are giving people choices to make or not. Wii you have no choice, you buy it and there are certain games that will never be on it because it does not have some of the NextGen capabilities. The PS3 you buy it and it has lots of leg room for growth, but in 3-5 years it will be max'd and there will be something new out there.

^really good points there....

about HDD.... you can use any HDD and plug it to your XB, but it will be in read only.... you can also stream music and videos from your computer to your XBox(with or without media center)..... but you can also DL info from your XBox to your computer.... so personall a 20Go is way enough for me until they'll release games that require more than a couple gigas I won't have any pb

so yeah the core is in "trouble" but like neoratt said if you buy the cheapest don't expect to have the best of it... it's already the case regarding live

i don't see why it's such a big problem. If the core can play 95% of 360 games isn't that enough? You can buy a hard drive seperately if you decide it was a mistake later, it's not like you need to get a new system. They are only alienating what? 10% or less of the userbase, and if it is a game for hardcore gamers, you are probably only alienating a few percent of the customers that want your game. If they really want it they will just get a hard drive.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

lets look at the facts too, how many people actually buy a core?  i dont know a single person who just owns a core 360.  I've also read that its kind of hard to find core systems, because its demand is so low, they dont get ordered as much.  i feel its mainly just some marketing ploy by Microsoft, they hold onto the core to just make them be able to compete price wise with the Wii.

Let me 1st say that l im getting tired of the fanboyish posts you make. Please use better journalism if you want to start threads and try not to do what other fanboys/girls do else you will be no better.

1 - Someone who buys a core system probably doesnt want to connect the 360 to the internet to begin with thus...
2 - Someone who has a core isnt interested in MMO's

Seems to me that it is better to have the option to save money and upgrade if you want to rather than be forced to pay for something you dont want right off the bat. Heck Sony would be far ahead of the 360 if they had done that themselves. Take out the br drive and bam... $200 off the price.

==> about Br and Sony : u are right
but, at least, with a PS3, u have everything to play all game whatever the sku u buy (20/60/80gb)
that is not the case of the Xbox360 ...

Um no.

Only 40% of 360 ownbers know it has HD graphics, how many do you really think know that core wont play MMos with out spending $100 on a MS harddisk or that its not ideal for online anything.
