i don't see why it's such a big problem. If the core can play 95% of 360 games isn't that enough? You can buy a hard drive seperately if you decide it was a mistake later, it's not like you need to get a new system. They are only alienating what? 10% or less of the userbase, and if it is a game for hardcore gamers, you are probably only alienating a few percent of the customers that want your game. If they really want it they will just get a hard drive.
