Like I said Halo 3 is a really short game and the campaign is quite repetitive. Online is good but IMO nothing really special.

I believe Call of Duty 4 did beat Halo 3 earlier this year despite selling 2 million less units. Of course now with Call of Duty: World at War reaching half the Halo 3's install base, especially COD series fans probably divide their online time amongst both Call of Duty games.

I only said that IMO Halo 3 is overrated, never did I say the game sold badly.

This is pretty much my perspective as well.

That's not really a yardstick to determine beyond all doubt that Call of Duty 4 is better when it was released much more recently in comparison. IMO if anything, COD has more reptitive gameplay as there's less multiplayer game types/no vehicles/less maps/no shields and subsequently shorter average life expectancy...unless you're a camping sniper grrr!

I don't think the question of whether the game "sold badly" was in contention? You were presenting your argument against it's 'amazing' review scores and perceived quality, which shouldn't be in contention either.

Well, we're probably going to read review of an "improved" PC version eventually, maybe perspectives changed.

Halo 1 scored 97% on the XBox and later the "improved" PC version scored only 83% (metacritic).
Halo 2 scored 95% on the XBox and later the "improved" PC version only scored 72% on average.

IMO an outstanding game at its core should stay relatively timeless and not dip so deeply in people's minds later on. I still hold Super Mario World and Mario64 in high regards.

That's obviously largely due to the fact that the PC counterparts were released 3 years after the fact. I think most people can see why justifying the same high review score on a 3 year old game isn't 'fitting'. I think Gearbox did the ports as well. The game was made ground up for consoles, it might seem a bit 'slow' for most FPS fans on the PC.

PS3 needs a price drop end of story. Sony got its ass kicked this Holiday no matter what Sony Needs to realize that 3rd parties will not PUSH the PS3 if it doesn't start outselling the 360 very soon. I do believe that if the Price is "right" people wil flock to the Playstation again. Exclusives will come back but it all comes down to taking that initial loss to sell more games and blu-rays. A PS3 at 299 should dominate can't see the argument that a PS3 with an 80gb harddrive isn't worth it or a much better value than the 360 or Wii. They should go to 249.99 and eat the loss 249.99 is clearly willing to be spent.

Maybe if thats too much loss for Sony to take Just make it a one month promo and see how it goes. Maybe constant 249.99 but must be acompanied with the purchase of any 2 games at 59.99....who doesn't buy 2 games with a system anyway. They need to create BUZZ and Marginal Graphic avantages aren't going to get people excited. by the way I paid 600 for my PS3 and I still want the price to go down because Everyone who enjoys games should get a chance to enjoy some of the really great games that Sony has made for the PS3 Little Big Planet is One of the greatest games I have played in alooooong time. Too bad it is being held back because most PS3 owners think it looks to cutesy.

@ MikeB Its an outstanding game, its played more than the "Great" Call of Duty IV and one could argue that it's aged better in comparison. Im not saying that Call of Duty isn't about as great as it, its just that Halo 3 is played more inspite having 3 "identical" iterations.

PS3 fans couldn't go on enough about how MGS4, LBP and HOME were going to save the console and bring the PS3 into its own element this generation. PS3 fans still go on about how great and essential Blu-Ray is to gaming... And as far as games go, if its being made by Sony or a PS3 exclusive (no matter what the hell the game is), you better believe that its going to be hyped senselessly and every little news item regarding it will get its own thread. Case in point: Killzone 2.

Wait, wait.  360 fans had to be dragged into reality kicking and screaming with respect to RRoD.  Just because they can admit it now, now that the problem is more or less solved, doesn't mean it was always so.  And yet you drag in the Sixaxis -- can you find a PS3 fan today that will deny that the lack of rumble was a big step backwards?  Can you find one that talks about the PS3 motion controls being as good (or even almost as good) as Wii motion controls?  I doubt it. 

I have other disagreements with your post, including in the quoted section, but this is what made me stop reading it.

I've got to say, I don't think I've seen as much hate for a console as PS3. Regardless of sometimes dumb marketing and PR or not so good sales, PS3 provided me with a great gaming experience in 2008. But, the PS3 was the first console since SNES & Genesis (I owned both) where people outside the internet (which wasn't around too much back then) to judge my purchase.

Speaking of Halo. I have to return to the US from Japan in February (unfortunately). One of the many things I'm not looking forward to is the Halo and Gears fandom.

Obviousally you never saw the hate Sony fanboys, magazines, web sites, MS fanboys, and just about every media outlet, did to the Game Cube... I mean really, if you ever went into a gaming forum, brought up how you liked your GC better then your PS2 you got insulted, people posting fail posters, acting like retards, I mean if it was real life they would be throwing feces at you...

@ Final, why does matter? There are fans of every big game and they can all be annoying at times.
