@MikeB: Technical specifications aside, since we all know they count from very little to none (especially when we are talking about two platforms so close to each other).
As for exclusives, both have their own, but generally both of the platforms have their equivalent exclusives to counter each other. And as i mentioned, it's very hard to justify the twice as big pricetag on PS3 (although, online you have to pay for does make PS3 more appealing option than it would be if Live was free).
Well yes, they ended to PS3, which only further proves my point; 360 installbase isn't big enough to sustain a certain sales level, so porting the games on PS3 is a good way to gain additional sales to make profit. The thing works in the other way as well, with the difference that PS3 has lost exclusives prior to release (for the late ports, i'd bet M$ moneyhatting publishers for timed exclusives).
In the end, we have one platform that offers publishers around 50% marketshare and is cheaper to develope for. And that's the platform that is going to keep PS3 (and 360) in the swamp they're at, due to it's games library.
