I said 'I hope it will sell 8 million' not 'I think it will sell 8 million'.

I agree with nintendo_fanboy, everything seem good except maybe the Sonic game should be higher. Btw, wtf is Sega doing releasing another Sonic game so soon after the last one, is there something I am missing?
That being say, I think one these: MadWorld, Deadly Creature, Little King Story, could well pull a De Blob and slowly crawl its way to platinium.

If I am not mistaken Sonic Unleashed is a multiplat with 360, PS3 and Wii released while Sonic and the Black Night is a Wii only release so it is a little more understandable why Sega would release it now (try to get legs over the course of the year).
I think the OP has a pretty good grasp on how well 3rd parties are going to sell on the Wii in Q1 09, I might go a little bit higher or lower on some titles but all in all I think his predictions are pretty intelligent.
I love how Sega is stepping up with some good title for the Wii next year (Madworld, Conduit, Sonic, etc.) just what I was hoping would happen after the success of M&S at the Olympics and Sonic & THe Secret Rings.
Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.
One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Im going to make some estimates, not of what they will sell but how much they need to sell lifetime in order to be considered a success. of course all these could drastically change depending on game quality and marketing. please feel free to tell me if if you think im horribly wrong.
House of the dead: overkill - 1 million ( the remakes sold 880,000 so this new one should sell more) sonic and the black knight - 1 million ( sonic is a popular brand on wii. however i dont think it will sell as well as sonic and the secret rings since that title was heavily bundled by retailers) madworld - 450k (will proably sell in line with NMH but will benefit from better sales in japan and hopfully more marketing) deadly creatures- 250k (new and unusual IP,that isnt very hyped so i think wot reach this target) tenchu IV- 150k (a franchise that had gone into decline, following a poor performance in japan i dont have high expectations for it in the west) little king story- 300k ( cute new IP with a casual appeal similar to de blob, however it wont have as good legs as it release far from the holiday season rune factory frontier 100k ( MMV expects 55k in japan and i expect s similar number from USA and others) Onechanbara Bikini Zombie Slayers - 100k ( unusual game that i dont expect to be advertised) |
I'm buying this game alone cause it has girls in bikini with guns and zombies lol
I wouldn't go lower with any of those predictions. I think we'll probably be pleasantly surprised by how some of the games sell though.
"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."
"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."
Sonic and the Black Knight - 2.5 million
House of the Dead Overkill - 1.5 Million
Madworld - 750k
Little King Story - 500k
The other ones aren't even worth predicting imo.
The Conduit - 1.5-3 million. This could go either way, still too many factors; end product, advertising, ect.....

The Conduit - will be called a flop week 1, but will hit 1 million, with the maximum of 3 million
I've got no specific predictions but given that there weren't a whole host of core games for the Wii at the end of last year i think there are going to be plenty of people looking to pick up some games in the first quarter, me being one of them. I think we could see some surprisingly good sales.
