Question is, what week will the PS3 finally outsell the 360 WW?

K2 release week?

If Sony drops price during 1st quarter there wont be much reaction. 2nd quarter will make some movement, but 3rd and 4th would make the most sense. K2 won't sell more than Resistance. I'm telling you now. It looks like a great game and I'm buying it, but don't put your hopes too high for the sales of this game.

I think it will sell more then R2 easily, that is of course if quality = sales which is sadly not always the case. At least it looks pretty for those who have not played it, should hopefully bait more people into buying it.

Marketing sells more than quality. We're living in a time that proves this. Get with the program. It will not sell more than Resistance 2. Mark my words, it's LTD will be less than Resistance 2.

How do you know Killzone 2 will not be advertised? I would think Sony will advertise this one more then LBP and this one would actually appeal to people, not make them say "WTF?" Your a funny guy though, R2 outselling Killzone 2.........LULZ!

It costs 300 GBP. X360 costs 129GBP. No surprise really especially with the recession. It will only grow until Sony can make the price competitive. It just cant compete at this price.

not only is this a weak response... its just plain wrong.

Whatever gimp. Price cuts are what put the 360 above PS3. Until its cuts in all 3 regions it was losing ground.

Ynwa.

There are too many people who believe that any of this actually matters.

First of all, the 360 has only outsold the PS3 by about 3 million since it launched, and whether the PS3 or the 360 finishes in second is irrelevant as it would be a far distant second with neither being able to claim a decisive or clear victory over the third place console.

It will matter. Why? MS finished second to the 2-time champ Sony. Now, Sony will have fallen off the throne to dead last. Oh, that's not significant to you, but to shareholders - investors and the like, oh, it matters. Lower returns = unhappy investors.

OT: Lowering the price of the PS3 is the only way it will survive. KZ2 will sell - LBP is selling better, but the current offering of games are not moving the PS3 as much as Sony had liked.

The PS3 is still tracking ahead of the X360 if you compare year over year. The PS3 sold more than 10 million consoles in 2008, while the X360 sold only 8 million in 2007.

The PS3 will easily outsell the X360 lifetime. It will soon start outselling the X360 on a weekly basis after the price drop to $299 (or even at $349) in 2009 (plus aided by KZ2, GOW 3, GT5, FF13), and with 3-4 more years to go it will easily pass the X360 by probably more than 10 million.

The X360 will sell 55 million lifetime, but the PS3 at least 65 million.

Even if that happens, Microsoft still wins

But they don't, even at best they come second. If PS3 does 65 million that means they got more sales then the 360 while MS worked harder this gen and also Sony got themselves a disc format.

Oh but they do win in that situation. You need to look past the pure numbers and look in the shift in the market. If the 360 sells 55m and PS3 65m then Microsoft will have more than doubled their previous consoles sales while Sony's will have halved. Not to mention MS is already running at a profit with the 360 while the PS3 has lost almost the entire profits from the PS1 & PS2.

That is a win in anyones book.

Not to fans/fanboys.

If you sold more consoles than the enemy you won, no matter the cost (except for bankrupcy or having to abandon the console business of course).

If Sony has has 65 M, Microsoft will be right ontop of them and you know it.

First of all, LBP's marketing sucked ****. The majority of the commercials were vague and pointless. Very few made sense because they focused on the game itself. Second of all (And think about this) why would Sony market KZ2 better than LBP when LBP was supposed to be the casual draw for the system? You're the funny guy.

Its funny before the price drop PS3 guy was sure he would be 3-4 million behind by the end on the year NOT.

And now its the price drop its gt5 its this its that. maybe its over this gen til they can produce a competitive console price wise.

also the 360 had 6.5 million lead at PS3 launch its now 8 million how does PS3 doing better year to year?
