Bioshock, though none have particularly great stories.

BioShock's story is brilliant, haven't played Fallout 3, but I hear the ending sucks.

And it's not easy to have a story better than that of BioShock.

What 3 games would you say have the best console storylines this gen?

Bioshock has one of the best videogame stories of all time. You actually need to read a 1mb text file to understand it all...

Fallout 3's story isn't that special.

However, I would argue that Fallout 3 is a better game overall than Bioshock, but not by much. Both of them are 96/100's in my book.

Right so, if i had the choice, which should i buy!?

Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer. Unfortunately it's only for PC.

^What about console games?

The Orange Box is the cream of the crop, followed by Bioshock and Sam & Max: Season One. Then you have the second tier of MGS4, Mass Effect and GTA IV.

Usually the best stories are only on PC, but if you have never played those PC games, then you'll enjoy alot the games I mentioned above.

EDIT: actually, Bioshock does have a great story, just not excellent.
