Who cares about critical acclain fun factor and enjoyment is really what pushes game sales. I'm not saying MGS4 is a bad game but if I really want to look at an endless amount of cut scenes I rather watch a real movie. Also until Sony comes out with a game that cost $90US and sells over 13million copies they are nowhere near the geniuses that the people at Nintendo are.

Please tell me you did not just attempt to use that claim? That is the lowest form of prejudice commonly used by a disgruntle fanboy. I am going to take that as a joke and not hold it against you, for its not even true.
MGS4 doesnt have nearly as many cutscenes as most RPGs today, and lasts about twice as long if played at a pace. I compare MGS4 to RPGs becuase they both emphasize story and cinamatics. No one complains about the mounds of text in those games but its a problem here? I dont hear people complaining about Fable 2. That is because There is so much stuff to do in that game it would make your head spin. Same goes for MGS4, in actuallity MGS4 out matches Fable in pure stuff to do. There are multiple paths to every mission, sights to see that Kojima has hidden within the game, badges to collect, online play that is phenomenal. The game outshines anything else on the market right now, best believe it.
And as someone pointed out earlier, sales doesn't always equal quality....

Ok firstly I am really tired of you trying to play me as some kind of rabid psycho fanboy who has no clue of what he is talking about, implications are completely off base. And My OP is not based on sales, my OP points out that the criteria flipfloped in the transiting from 07 to 08 to better suit the 360. 07: PS3 sales spike, 360's sink but has the best games=Year of 360! 08:PS3 continues to outsell 360 for 8 months, but 360 gets sales in the end. PS3's library vastly superior to 360 one=Year of the 360 Still?!?!PS3 a failure, DEATH?!! And Rare is an old company with decades of experience over Socom creators. Banjo has been around since the N64, peak of adventure games under it's belt. Socom has relatively the same amount of success. Its sales are much better for it then say Banjo as of right now. I am almost assured there are close to 700k Socom:Confrontations sold. Here is why.. -VGchartz has Socom down for 501k sold, this is without Others numbers. Also we all know VG chartz does not follow Digital Download numbers. Socom is available for download from PSN as well as retail disc copy. Socom is at like number 15 of most downloaded on PSN, on a list topped by PAIN(I dont remember where I read this though). This is why I measure Socom to be a success in comparison to games such as IU, LR,Haze ect.

I'm sorry, but you are a fanboy. And the criteria never changed. The 360 had more hardware sales in 07. The 360 had more hardware sales in 08. You are the one trying to change the criteria or see things differently. You are desperately trying to hold on to some positive fact about your only console. A fanboy. Also, you keep saying the PS3 library was better in 08. That is a major opinion, and even if it were true, the amount of total quality AAA games on the PS3 is still well behind the 360.
@blazinhead89
The $600 model was cut to $500. Then that same model at $500 was dropped to $400 and changed slightly. The smaller previous $400 model was discontinued. Thus the $600 console dropped to $400 in a place of a years time.

I guess you missed the part where MGS4 isn't supposed to be an RPG. It's a shooter. One with cutscenes that run up to 90 minutes for ONE cut scene. That's longer than most movies these days. Much longer than any RPG cut scene. The point is, RPG players go into the game expecting the cut scenes. Shooter fans, even MGS fans, were not expecting that much cinema attention. Thus why it got some bad rep from reviewers.

They arent similar at all..

@Nightsurge, i had no idea 400$ PS3 had BC >_> That is why they dropped to 400$. could i say the 360 dropped 150$ in price, because they use the exact same model as Elite and change it >_>. @DaveD, What i ment was that the more expensive item will generally sell less (if it does around the same thing)

No one said anything about more sales = better. Just that sales was the criteria for determining "System of the Year". Each sale is kind of like a vote. The most votes means you win.
And unfortunately, Leo-J, the PS3 and 360 are very similar in capabilities, game offerings, services, and especially to the general public, the only difference is price. Yes the PS3 has Blu-Ray which makes it different, but when that is the only majorly different factor, I would say they are quite similar indeed. (don't get all technical as I have many threads I can link to regarding the hardware capabilities of both consoles)

Ok, "I'm joking." Unfortunately what I said and then you bolded, is true.
@blazinhead
They don't use the Elite model and change it.... I'm not sure what you are talking about. The Core and Premium were all that existed. Then they added the Elite with a new color, bigger HDD, and a $80 higher price. The Core and Premiums each eventually changed slightly and dropped $100. The Elite dropped $80.
There is no 90 minute cutscene in MGS4.. not even the ending which is easily the longest cutscene is 90 minuts, its around 40 minutes, and thats the LONGEST one. Everything else is much shorter, honestly if you try to complain about cutscenes, go and play Kingdom hearts 2.
