Forums - Nintendo - Does Metroid Prime 3 REALLY have that much worse graphics than HD games?

I think it looks fine. Parts of it are genuinely impressive, even by today's standards.

But to answer the question in the thread titles: yes. Graphics have taken a HUGE leap forward this gen (well, 2/3rds of this gen..)

Were you not around for the transistion between 5th and 6th gen, or even greater, 4th and 5th gen?

5th to 6th impressed me than any other. After that I grew tired of the novelty of graphics. Sound stands the test of time much better.

if mp3 was made 5 years ago then you might have a case , please give up.

I found MP3 to be as fun and different as Gears of War 1 when I played both.

Graphically it was good, they optimised so well that I never thought the game was lacking due to lack of horsepower even compared to other games where the difference is glaring. I think it comes down to how they made the things they had to do to make the game run on the Wii look like thats what they intended to do in the first place. Thats why im not so impressed with the Conduit screen shots as I was Res 4 or MP3.

Tease.

Yes.

Got to call Apples with Apples here - try connecting the 360 with composite (can you?), and THEN compare the games.

The Wii looks like s*** with composite - especially on new TVs. I refuse to look/play anything on any Wii running composite (unless the TV is tiny) - it looks at least twice as good on component.

Here's hoping the Wii II either comes with component or HDMI as standard.

The wii wasn't made for graphics , it's like bragging about how fast your 7 seater goes.

Needless to say, he was using composite cables connected to a 50" 720p HDTV. The 360 was connected over HDMI.

Does Metroid Prime 3 REALLY look that bad compared to 360 games?

The answer is no.

My friend has a 42 inch 720p HDTV and when I brought my Wii over to his house (I own composite cables, not component) and I hooked it up. Looked like crap. Then I went to into the settings menu, threw it widescreen and it looked phenomenal.

Maybe he still had it in 4:3 480i mode.
