Forums - Gaming - What's your favourite 'cult game'?

What games do you like that didn't sell well but you believe are great games and that everyone should have the opportunity to try them?

--

For me, it is the Advance Wars series. It's a turn-based strategy series for the GBA and DS (though earlier games existed for the NES and SNES). It's easy to get into but very challenging towards the end of each game, and the cartoon-like style means it is less serious and overwhelming than other strategy games but is a very fun experience... especially if you're winning.

Does Eternal Darkness count as a cult game? That was one awesome game.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I wouldn't really consider Advance Wars to be a "cult game" anymore.

Anyway, mine is Super Robot Wars.

Second Sight

I'm not sure how well it sold, but I didn't know anyone but myself that bought the game. I thought the game has a great story and I loved the telekinetic powers. One of my favorites.

Ninjabread Man. Cult Classic.

The Castlevania series-they deserve to sell to sell millions but they only sell in the hundred-thousands.

Fallout 1 + 2 for the PC for me. On consoles, I've never strayed too far from the mainstream so I can't choose much there.

id say the Suikoden series definately my fave rpg

The Ys series.

Not sure if Advance Wars series counts as a cult game.  The title, to me, appears to be THE benchmark title for wargames on ALL consoles, and particularly handhelds.  It probably is the all-time best-selling console wargame series, and the reason why we have wargames on the DS, and other consoles now.  Wargames here being turn-based of course.

So, I would put Advance Wars above "cult" title and say it is a "niche" title that the only reason why it isn't more popular is the size of the market for turn-based wargames.

I would say Civ:Rev got on the DS, due in part, to the success of the Advance Wars series.
