Forums - Microsoft - eternal sonata demo -- help?

Mr Stick -- you said it is co-op but I can't figure out how... How did you get the second player online?

No, controlling the characters in battle can be coop

Go to options and I think it was character controls.

Glad to see you got your 360 back already, kn.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

The co-op is offline only.

Anyways, from any area of the game, hit "Y" button to get to the menu.

Hit left on the joystick/D Pad to scroll to options.

Once at the options screen, hit "Right Bumper" to scroll right, on the options menu. On that screen (I can't think of the exact name), there is a controller selection area on that one screen. You can select each of the 3 players to be controlled by your selection of controllers.

I hope that explains it.

Yeah, I think that gets it.  Neat game but there are a number of things to "figure out" in the demo.  I love xbox marketplace demos -- you can damn near live on demos alone, lol.  That said, they almost never have any sort of instructions and there are always a few "tidbits" that take a while to figure out through trial and error.  It would be nice if the demos had some kind of basic manual you could download and go through or something.  I shall not look a gift horse in the mouth, though.  Demos rule.

I played that demo and it LOOKS great... I just hat that it's turn based, if you're going to battle like tales of symphonia it would have been great to be able to move always. You could just have to wait a little before attacking but you should be ble to be ALWAYS on the move while in battle.

I played blue dragon demo too... I was really looking forward to BD but... the battle system seems a little too complicated... even the grafics look kind of "simple". And this comes from a guy that loves akira toriyama's artwork as much the next guy, but I think the art style on eternal sonata is a lot better...

O_o There's co-op in this game!? I have to try this as soon as I get home.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Yes. There's co-op in Eternal Sonata.

You can select the different controllers to various playable characters. Ie, player #1 is Allegretto and Beat, Player 2 is Polka. So in battle, those characters are controlled by those players. Very cool.

I didn't have too many problems with the BD or ES demos. The problem is that adding alot of instructions to the game, adds time to do (money) for the developers...Not always a good thing.

The battle system to Blue Dragon is real simple. You just have a few characters that have the "charge" ability. IMO, since they throw you in the middle of decent-level characters with tons of abilities already assigned to the characters, it makes it a little bit more daunting - atleast with ES you start from Level #1.

Either way, the ES demo just freaking rocks. There's NOTHING like pressing Y button in battle at the end of a 32-chain combo, and watching your character attacking an enemy for close to 10,000 damage.
