Without out ur summary I would not have been able to get the content of this video.

They get paid because they know enough about the industry to help investors know who to invest in, and who not to invest in.

Frankly, I think 2008 will be Sony's second best year. The content will be there, but it will still cost what 360 did up to a few weeks ago. Japan and the Sony brand are worth maybe 20% extra, but 2009 will be the point when content/pricing intersect to boost consumer interest and sales alot - if it is going to happen. I think the PS3 will have 1-3 years of sales of over 10 million, but it isn't happening this year (2.7 million in 2007 through 30 weeks), and since 360 will likely on sell 7 million in 2007, I can't see PS3 selling more than 8.5 million at that pricepoint (which would be next year). So starting August 19 I expect Nintendo to lead for at least 18 months. Sometime in 2009/2010 I can see PS3 passing 360 lifetime sales however. I have serious doubts that Sony or Microsoft can hit 75 million units worldwide without significant sales in Japan and slow starts worldwide and given their current strategies, although I think 40 million-55 million is pretty doable for Sony and/or Microsoft.

How much do you see 360 and PS3 selling world wide the last 3 months of the years.

How can MS hold of Sony for that long ? i really cant see them having a big enough lead in the USA to out weight the differance from Japan, Europe and all other markets.  

Minus the Euro lauch, the PS3 is trending worse than the 360 for the year, i believe.  Also, 360 obviously has Halo coming.  The pricecut has helped PS3, which is very promising for next year, but I expect 360 to beat PS3 this year handily [next year, whole new story though]

So the analysts have gone from saying that "PS3 will dominate and win outright" to "PS3 will have a great year in '08"...

No doubt that sales will improve. But define "great year"? It will still be battling with the 360 to take 2nd spot (in terms of weekly sales), will still be caned by the Wii, etc.

By the time the PS3 gets to 20m sold, the Wii will be hovering around 60m - if not higher.

Its going to be really interesting to see how the PS3 & 360 turn out next year - both will have very strong software line ups. 

I disagree The Source. I think 2008 will not be Sony's year at all. I think that the fact they are missing a big year here is going to cripple them. Nintendo and Mircrosoft control 85% of the market right now, and with big line ups from both this year, I think it will put Sony in a stranglehold, and make the console stagnant. Also, games like MGS4 and KZ2 are not going to push the system as much as we think. The system just isn't going to turn the mainstreams head, and I don't think it ever will.

I agree with steven787. He's wrong when it matters. He was wrong about the Wii and he's probobly going to be wrong in mostg of the things he said. I think he needs to post here to learn a bit more. Or just do hios job and not predict on stuff he doesn't know.

Hus look at this way - Wii is selling anywhere from 2-4 times faster than 360 each week, and it still took 9 months to pass 360. When most PS3s cost $400, I expect PS3 to sell consistantly at ~1.3 to 1.5 times faster than Xbox 360. But at launch, PS3 was 5-6 million behind 360. Given the USA Core price ($279), and sales in the UK, France, Ireland, Australia and Canada, I expect the 360 lead to extend to a peak of 7 million this December 31. After that PS3 will slowly but steadily cut into the 360 lead, selling worse in the USA and Canada for a while (Americans are price conscious, and there are some signs a recession will be coming soon), until it reaches $300/$400, but outselling 360 in Europe/Others and Japan throughout comparable time periods. Given that the lead will be 7 million through December 31, 2007, and that Wii outsold 360 2x faster than PS3 will outsell 360, PS3 will need at least 18 months - starting in 2008 (since it took Wii 9 months) to catch Xbox 360. However, since 360 will likely be at least partly mass-market price sometime in 2009 ($250/$200/$150 is my guess), the catch up may get delayed into early 2010.

Still, I expect it to happen because 360 can't come in second selling in 1.5 out of 3 markets when PS3 will sell in 2.5 out of 3 markets.

I disagree with you,

1.Lower price, consumers will have the ps3 available at a lower price increasing demand ofcourse.

2.Descent software, if we see these new IP's get descent sales and good reviews this might be a reason why people need to buy a ps3 just for those 10 new games that will always be exclusive to the ps3.

3.HD, if blu-ray succeeds in taking out dvd, making it the best format, ps3 will win this gen even if the wii is selling double of what it is right now.

Alot of 360 owners are looking foward to mgs4, and they will not hesitate to buying a ps3 just for that game, and if we truly see the ps3's halo(killzone 2) then sales will boost dramaticly just for that shooter.
