This is hilarious, why does everyone argue in this "two wrongs make a right" style.
The people who predicted less than 200k are just plain stupid or fanboys or just loopy and maybe taking a potshot at being a correct.
Like those "guess how many sweets are in the jar" games at fairs.
1. This is the 1st proper JRPG on the PS3.
2. This is Japan.
3. PS3 JRPG fans are dying for a JRPG.
These 3 facts mean that there is no way it could have possibly done any worse than it has give or take 10k. I don't care what Famitsu review gave it, its a JRPG on a console that doesn't have ANY AT ALL.
This has nothing even to do with the PS3 in reality. All it means is that people in Japan still buy JRPGs and we already knew this.
In the real world we can only compare its sales with install base (for people who want to associate a sales link between JRPG\PS3\Xbox 360 - not me) With the factual data we have, we can see that this has tanked in those terms and certainly won't be changing any minds on JRPG console choice for the managment.
This game has been hyped up to the max as per all PS3 games and it has sold only a little more than Xbox 360 JRPG with more than 3 x install base.
No matter what way to spin it the data says the PS3 is much less attractive statistically and in potential revenue per user than the Xbox 360 - EVEN IN JAPAN!
Now lets see how it performs in the US versus the Xbox 360s JRPG's and we'll all have a REAL LAUGH!
This is in no way a slander at the PS3, don't get me wrong. It's my opinion on clutching at straws that the OP is doing. I wouldn't even be commenting if it wasn't for deluded overly optimistic verging on borderline ignorant statements that are being made regarding WKC.
Again, I shall reiterate it's not about what member on VGchartz said what and therefore it has sold well. It's about what is to be expected from a highly hyped first of its kind release in a games number 1 (ratio of console owner to potential buyer) target market.
On those terms, which are the most important terms when you wash away the fanboy PS3 VS Xbox 360 drivel - It hasn't even raised an eyebrow.
