It's also the reason Stickball is all over this thread, because he was grossly incorrect in agreeing with that sentiment.

On a sidenote to stickball, IDK how you could enjoy any of the 360 JRPGs, save for LO and ToV, but seeing as that you didn't play PS1 JRPGs, your standards must be extremely low. Xenogears is probably one of the best JRPGs around, like Euphoria said, and you owe it to yourself to play some good JRPGs like that. Not mediocre ones like LO and the like. And don't get me started on IU, BD, and TLR.

SNES rpgs >>> PS1 rpgs.

Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Star Ocean: The Second Story, FF VII-IX, Valkyrie Profile, SaGa Frontier 1-2, Grandia, Lunar 1-2, Legend of Mana, Legend of Dragoon, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, Chrono Cross Breath of Fire 3-4, Parasite Eve 1-2...

Against: Secret of Mana, Tales of Phantasia, FF IV-VI, Terranigma, Secret of Evermore, Chrono Trigger, Illiusion of Gaia, Star Ocean, Bahamut Lagoon...

Maybe I missed a couple... but my choice goes for the PS1.

As for WKC, nice... I hope it does 350-400k LTD (or more thanks to online, Japan seems to love it). For now my primary concern is actually getting the game.

 

 

 

Let me add Suikoden, Suikoden II, and Wild ARMs to your list...

As an old-school harcore jrpg fan, thse games are not what they used to be.  But what I've read of WKC, it brings back part of that foundation what's been lost in most JRPG's for the past few years.  Hopefully, this will bring out the best in JRPG fans, but it also seems to bring out some of the worst in haters.  Good for WKC and gamers.  Keep it real, and keep it alive.

It is kind of funny how smbu2000 uses Breath of Fire for the PS1 as great examples of RPGs but neglects the iterations on SNES. Also, you could just say: The Soul Blazer Triology.

 

Ummm...it wasn't me who listed those games, it was Xen. He quoted me, as I said "SNES rpgs >>> PS1 rpgs" I also mentioned in a post after that about him not listing the SNES Breath of Fire games, even though he listed the PS1 versions of BoF.

 That's only cause of the hype factor.  It's the same reason why LBP gets made fun of, because the ps3 fans made it to be "huge". So naturally the 360 fans are gonna jump all over it if sales aren't what to be expected.

The same goes for the xbox fans hyping up the almighty "king of rpg's" so again only natural for ps3 fans to celebrate when there rpg's do better.

Huh? Are you saying WKC aren't what to be expected? Most pegged it doing 350-450k lifetime in Japan.

There where people expecting it to sell 30-70k first day, and around 100k first week.

And people expecting 200k first week, and people expecting 400k.

With the exception of a couple of joke posts the majority of the posters were expecting between 120-150k first day and 200-220k first week. No one seriously predicted that it would open with 30k, stop making things up.
